What is weird. I have found five or six musicians on this board and I am planning on working with one guy from here. Who'd of thought that would have been possible coming to a 70's themed Mego toy board?
          It's all good.

I'm an old school metal guy who eventually moved on to the more progressive side of the genre. Dream Theater, Queensryche, Fates Warning, Evergrey, Pain of Salvation and Savatage are my current musical foundation.

I'd have to say my current favorite is Soilwork. It's classic Gothenburg melodic death metal with insane vocals. Awesome stuff.

I've also ventured into prog rock and neo-prog, but always find myself coming back to the heavy stuff.

Larry and Paul(?) here on the board have a good thing going with Novembers Doom as well. They're an international act with quite a following, discography and live DVD. Good stuff.

                  "Who'd of thought?"
If I wasn't so secure in my status as a musician that collects toys
                  I'd take offense

When I was a teen "metal" was popular and if I heard my current band
BACK THEN, I would have thought we were kind of "metal"...

Over the years though, bands like mine and most of the "so-called metal" bands have been relegated to being called "hard rock".

                  I'd say I'm more of a "hard rock" fan---than a "metal" fan.

The only bands I really like listening to that could be considered
"metal" are Ozzy/Sabbath and possibly Zep....just ballparking the
                  "metal" definition there.

Bands that used to be considered "metal" that I've always been a big fan of
are: VAN HALEN, KISS, AEROSMITH, AC/DC, MOTORHEAD, QUIET RIOT,
MOTLEY CRUE, RATT, TWISTED SISTER, W.A.S.P., DEF LEPPARD, FASTWAY,
DAVID LEE ROTH BAND, CINDERELLA and AUTOGRAPH
"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris Mannix

It does make one think. If you were to join a musician's forum you "might" find out that some of them actually collect Mego's or other collectible toys. Wouldn't that be a hoot. Kind of like I went to a fight and a Hockey game broke out.

I am also a metal head here. I love it. As I have gotten more mature in my age I find myself listening to a wide variety of other music generes as well. My gf is an adult entertainer so I do tend to stray every now and then with the music that I listen to as the club plays a variety to try and make everyone there a happy camper. My favorite by far is still metal though. Country is my least favorite. There are still "some" country songs that are not too bad and I can tolerate them for a little while. I just don't like the old style country cry in your beer my wife left me kinda crap. I am talking more like Big and Rich - Save a Horse Ride a Cowboy or Rascal Flatts - Me and My Gang. Those are not bad country. I just don't want to listen to them all the time though.

Death Angel, Rigor Mortis, Slayer, Pantera, Godsmack, ProPain, S.O.D., M.O.D and old school Metallica (when they were really good). I think those that know what I am typing about here get the picture. The list is quite vast so I will stop there.

I like a lot of those to. I always forget to put Sepultura and Cannibal Corpse at the top of my list. I have seen Cannibal Corpse several times locally and I have a bunch of their T-shirts. They are awesome! It is neat to know that there are others out there that share the same taste in music.
