Terrence Howard: Iron Man Execs Made "Very, Very Bad Choice"

Terrence Howard is not pleased he was replaced in the "Iron Man" sequel over a reported salary dispute.

"Marvel made a choice, and it was a very, very bad choice," the actor -- whose role was given to Don Cheadle -- tells Parade.com. "They didn't keep their word. They didn't honor my contract."
    See more celeb scandals.
Howard says producers didn't share the profits of the flick -- which earned over $318 million -- with most of the actors.
"They produced a great bounty with the first one, but they put it all in the storehouse and you were not allowed in," he says. "They did the same thing with Gwyneth Paltrow , from what I've been told.
See Gwyneth Paltrow's crazy fashion choices over the years.
The only person who got a raise?
"They did it with everyone but Robert Downey [Jr]," fumes Howard. "One of the things that actors need to do is always stick together: one for all, and all for one."
Even though he's upset, he's not spilling any details from the anticipated sequel.
"I've seen the script, I know what's going to happen -- but I'm not revealing anything. I believe in karma," he says. "When someone does something wrong, you don't have to get them back. Everything right will return the favor for you."
He'll still watch the follow up -- which also stars Scarlett Johansson and Mickey Rourke -- in theaters.

"I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the movie. I want to see Don Cheadle become me. No, I want him to do better than me," Howard says. "That's what I really want to see. Don Cheadle was the reason I got 'Crash,' so I have a lot of love for him."

My two cents: I am a big Iron man fan. I have been following Iron man since the late 80s. Jim Rhodes is a mascule, brass and stern African America. Terrance Howard played Rhodes like a giant *****.
The choice to remove Howard was fine with me. Lets see what this other character can do. I want to see my Jim Rhodes played like the mean bad *** he is.

Don Cheadle is the superior actor...so I myself am quite happy with the turn of events.

Jim Rhodes was a very minor character in the first movie, I don't really get where you can say he played him like a *****. He didn't have much to even do in the movie. The title was Iron Man, not Jim Rhodes-War Machine. I've really got zero interest in seeing War Machine show up and overshadow the title character, either.

It doesn't matter to me who plays him...the character is inconsequential as far as I'm concerned...I never liked the idea of other people flying around in Stark's armor...HE IS Iron Man, no one else.

After his latest big mouth debacle, I think Hollywood will officially change the name of this actor to "Terrance who?" Attacking the studios that feed you, especially over a minor role such as he had, is possibly the dumbest thing an actor can do to cut short his career.

Don Cheadle should have played Black Panther, would have made a great T'chella.

i too first thought of the greed but

i know actors can earn crazy amounts of money but that is really only the top 1% or so of them (does the term starving artists ring a bell) - so actors in top top of their field make money comparable to others in the top of their field (ad execs, bank ceos, lawyers, doctors, etc)

to ask for your share of something you helped make is within reason.

as to what the contract said - if it said he was to get a share int the proceeds he should go for the throat. - if it merely gav him a lump sum or salary and didn't say that he got profit shares then he needs to shut up (and fire his manager)

at first i thought he was a a it small for the roll - not just in physical size but in presence.

i don't think cheatle will change that.

i think the statement in the OP shows howard has respect for the property (not giving away plot details) and respect for cheatle.

i think we will need to wait one more movie before we see rhoady in the armor. if he gets in in this film it will be brief and not as a replacement.

i too don't like the idea of multiple flying men BUT i love the story line that requires a replacement for tony. so i would love to see issue 128 be the source material for IM 3

Don Cheadle is a great actor. Personally, I think he's better than T. Howard.

If I remember, right...when news first came out that Cheadle would be replacing Howard Marvel said something having to do with Howard demanding too much money for his role, especially for someone not even in the lead role. I'll try to find the article

I was under the Impression that Howard was initally Signed for that Role at a Far Greater Pay check than any of the Other Actor's, including Downey Jr. ... He got canned from the Project,.. because we wouldn't Budge from His Contract,.. & Is a Pain the Arse to Work with.

Reguardless,.. I loved the Guys Performance in the Film,.. & Love his Interaction with Downey...., It really added to making the Film Great imo.

We shall she What the other Guy Does,.. very soon...

I think what Howard is Most ****ed about,.. is the Fact He didn't get to wear the Suit Yet.... & Wanted to,.. very badly.
