800 people line up for fast food jobs in Arizona!

Even though I don't live in Arizona, this is what I woke up to on our local news in Louisville. Over 800 people, many degreed, lined up for hamburger flipping jobs that pay $10.00 an hour. If that isn't sobering news on how bad our economy is getting, I don't know what is. Here is the story...

    Which begs the question.
If you had a mego worth, let's say, $500.
would you rather sell it? or work 50 hours at a hamburger joint?

In N Out unionizes their employees with benefits as I recall. They're one of the best fast food chains out there for employee treatment.

By Sarah SchulteMarch 24, 2009 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- More than 1,000 people waited in line Tuesday for a chance to work at Chicago's newest Loop hotel.
The Wit Hotel, which will open in about two months, has 300 positions to fill. The line stretched out of the Oriental Theater, down State Street and into a nearby alley, there's no shortage of applicants.
And, the competition is steep. The nation's unemployment rate is about 8-percent

This is true. I wish other fast food joints would follow their lead and treat their employees like an asset--you would get better productivity out of your workers. Novel idea, I know.

I knew a woman in her early twenties working mid management at In and Out and she was pulling something like $50K a year.....They also, I believe, have a sort of profit sharing system that if your store over produces then the employees benefit. Again, what a novel idea.

Plus they offer health insurance for full time employees. Wow! You think Pepsi Co. will ever do that? Not a chance.

You make it sound like trying for that job is beneath people...that's not just the case...$10 an hour is excellent money for a fast food gig...plus the $10 is just a starting salary...it goes up the longer you work there.

Like Brain said, In N Out is a first class burger chain...I go there all the time...they treat their employees with respect, they have benefits, the service is friendly, all the food is fresh and never frozen, and the restaurants are super clean.

              In N Out rules.

Managers of each In N Out location can make up to $200k a year.

Again, there's nothing embarrassing about this...as a matter of fact...In N Out always has had tons of applicants and job seekers...they actually just don't hire anybody off the street...all the employees there are clean cut and educated (meaning having the right attitude and personality)...no losers serving burgers there.

If you become a full time manager, and stay there as a career employee...like I told Damien...they can eventually make up to $200k a year there.

In-N-Out Burger - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Very nice layouts, super clean, friendly employees (and lots of them per location), great service...and most importantly...great burgers.

The place is always packed with customers.

Plus where else can you order this?...

As you can see, I'm a huge fan of In N Out Burgers.

Never heard of that chain, but it sounds like a better gig than some of the ones I've had.
I just watched the original Grapes of Wrath, so I just envision all these jalopies teetering up to the pick-up window.
