Probably one of the most influential Coaches and strategist ever. The West Coast Offense that he introduced (as distinguished from the Don Coryell version) changed Football at all levels of the game. Today, it is how the game is mostly played, but at the time it was years ahead of any other offensive scheme.

Also, how about all the coaches that learned under Bill Walsh. Man, what a list! And, if you look at it like a family tree, most of the head coaches in the NFL today (just over one-half, by my reckoning) can trace their "lineage" directly to Bill Walsh. (Tony Dungy is a Second Generation by way of Denny Green and Lovie Smith is a Third Generation by way of Dungy, for example.)

          RIP, Coach.

There were teams that you hated to lose to, and then there were teams you just realized, no matter how talented the players were, that you were just outcoached. As a Giants fan, and a big Bill Parcells believer, I always knew that a game between those two coaches was usually going to be a battle of wits more than brawn or skill.

RIP Bill Walsh, you always had my respect.

HELLO.....I have been a fan for 30 years now.He will be missed.I can say I watched his whole stay with the 49ers.I was there when he went into the hall of fame. Its a shame with the team on the rise.He willnot be here to see the glory days again.
