    Need UK Shipping Help

Ok UK guys I need your help. I am in the USA, bought an item from England on Ebay.uk. The seller is telling me that this item is going to cost 58 GPB to ship which is approximately $84 USD. The item weighs 2.4kg / 2400 gm / 5.3 pounds. This appears to be a really high cost and I don't know if she is trying to cheat me or not.

I've tried to google UK Postal rates but they are very confusing to me. Terms like "printed paper" rates and "packets" and etc. From what I can tell it should be roughly 27.66 GPB to ship via Air World. I have no idea how shipping works over there. Somebody please help me! Helloooooooo

printed paper is books and magazines and small stuff like that your s should be around 31.66 pounds. the amount he is charging might for express or he could be adding a handling cahrge . i think its excessive but he could be sending it express . i always ask any sellers outside the us what the shipping charge is . ask the seller how its being shipped and how fast it will get to you. mike

I first asked her if she shipped to the US before I bid and she told me yes but could not provide an amount until she had it weighed. She gave me an estimate of around 30GBP. So I bid and won. So now she comes back with that she had misquoted the amount, it weighed 2.4 kg and it was 58 GBP. I've got a bad feeling about this.

Hmm, I wonder if any of our UK members live anywhere near the seller?

around 2 years ago i sold a misb super powers hall of justice playset
          it went to new york...

due to its size and weight when boxed sufficiant to survive the trip it came in weighed over 2kg this is the trouble figure where the cost can bounce from areound £28-£30 if under 2kg to over £50 if over and more

and so it cost £52 to send 2 years ago!
so the quote is not that out of touch

remember we dont charge any so called shipping and "handling" here we just get ripped off by the goverment and postal service along with everything else you can think of

remember when those new milenium falcon came out, $150 in toys r us, you guys rushed out and bought them, you all laughed at me when i said they would come out here more like $300 in your money here, you all laughed... how much did they come out, £150 exchange rate at the time was $300

so remember we get knocked here for everything we do

so yes the quote should be accurate if they approached the post office for the shipping rate

then if you want cover... boy oh boy up it goes again

you can get a lower rate by going to a different courier, but its out of convienience to the seller, as there is a post office in most high streets

you can probably get it shipped for half that amount with a cowboy firm with no insurance or any idea if it will ever arrive at all lol

for a few members here i offer a redirecting service when some uk ebayer says they wont send to u.s, i have it sent to me and i ship it for them, or when the uk ebayer wants to over charge ill do my best to help out and have it sent me and then send it on... but that quote out of my own experience sounds accurate

see if they can get the wight down a bit if that is the weight of the item boxed?

if the item is not even boxed as yet and that is just the weight of the goods then you are in more trouble to come yet lol

A couple of things. If the auction had stated £58 shipping would you have bid what you did. ? If not then you could pull out of the whole thing as the seller said it would be around £30.

If you do not want to pull out consider surface mail as it will be a lot cheaper ( but will take longer to get to you )
