Trickery and Thievery in the Mego Museum!

    Hello everyone,

I have been holding this back for a while now because I respect everyone here at the Mego Museum and have found nothing but friendly people to talk to, but now, I can't hold back any longer.

A member from these very boards has stolen $170 from me. That's right, Mego Museum member (god I hate pointing fingers, seriously, everyone here is very nice) Marillion has claimed to have sent off an item I bought and paid for well over 5 weeks ago. I have sent PM after PM again and again but he has not replied even though he has been signing on. I even tried sending messages to his email and even his eBay account, but no, not even one reply after weeks of waiting and waiting, it has been months since I have heard from him.

I seriously hate saying this sort of stuff because I trust everyone here at the Mego Museum, I have never had one bad transaction or even a debate with any one here but this sort of stuff just make's me mad!

We should have a section where we can make thread's about bad member's here (although Im sure there is not many).

Is there any thing I can do about this? Can't we sort of band together to stop this sort of thing?

    'nuff said
    PS
by posting this I no way intend to bad mouth the Mego Museum forums nor discourage the use of the Mego Marketplace

Chip Cataldo has been around online toy collecting circles for years, so it's sad to see it come to this. I'd suggest you post this on Action Figure Insider's boards, because I'm sure he has an account there and posts frequently. Here's a link to their Bad Trader thread:

(Oddly enough, I went over to check where to post bad traders there and he's listed as being online right now.)

I think he might hang out on Raving Toy Maniac's board, too, so it probably wouldn't hurt to post a note there.

Heh...small world...I used to work with Chip back in the late 80s-early 90s (Pizza Hut)...he had quite the Star Wars toy collection and comic collection from what I recall.

I can't remember for sure, but I think after 4 weeks your sol with paypal. But file anyway and if(when) they say no, call your cc company and do a charge back.

How did he say he sent it? Any tracking. If it was post office, did he in insure it? Stuff does get lost. Anyway he has ebay store, with less than stellar feedback.

If you do a search for "Chip Cataldo" on Google Groups, you'll see all of these messages on the toy groups from 10 years or so ago from people looking for him because he didn't fulfill his end of online trades. I wish I would have remembered when he showed up here.

Unfortunately the list of bad traders through the years is a long one Steve. Hopefully this latest wave of bad press will help save a few people some heartache, and maybe shame the creep into doing what is right.

If he's been doing this for 10 years I doubt it

that sucks, I wish I knew about this earlier, it really get's me mad that this sort of thing goes on.

No I didn't get a tracking number because he never sent the item, he just said "I might send it off in the next few days" and I never heard from him again. According to him he had some personal problems so sending it was delayed, which sucks because I didn't take action thinking that he some problems to work out before sending it, so now it's probably too late.

WOW! Quite a dubious history he seems to have built up the last 10-12 years. I can't say I'm totally surprised, knowing him in a past life so to speak, but I am taken aback by the sheer volume of critics and naysayers he seems to have attracted over the years and yet he apparently still hasn't been totally blackballed by the action figure community and continues to conduct business this way on a semi-regular basis.

I bought some Atari 2600 games from him did not get anything from him, I keep emailing him and about a week later he will say "Did you get these yet? I sent them out." or "Which 7 were yours? I found a big pile of games but wasn't sure which were sold and which weren't." or "I must have totally forgotten to send them, so I'll check the "unsold" pile of Atari games on my shelf and get them out asap! Thanks for letting me know." I copyed and pasted them from email he has sent I don't think I will ever get anything from him but I didn't loose what you lost $20.07 but its still 20 bucks I hope you have more luck than I am having.
