    Horrific Murder in my hometown!!!

This is crazy! I live in a sleepy little town in Maryland where the town goes bananas when a group of teenagers egg houses once in a blue moon.

This occurred just two miles from my house and the family attended our church!

It is all over the local Washington D.C. news stations and have heard it is making national news now. Apparently, this sick individual murdered his wife, kids, and then shot himself.

We didn't know the family personally but definitely remember seeing them at church on occassion.

There is still a lot of news that hasn't been released but lot's of rumors floating about....one being that the crime scene is more gruesome than what is even being reported at this point but rumors spread very quickly.

Even though we didn't know the family, we are completely shocked that something like this happened so close to home. There literally has never been a murder in our town for 100 years....this just takes it to a different level.

Hard times right now for a lot of people. Most of us never see the troubles that occur within the walls of otherwise peaceful looking homes. This is probably as good a time as any to take stock in what you have and to cherish it.

That's so sad. My thoughts are w/ your town and the families of those poor people.

I don't know. This is not the first I've heard of some husband/father taking out his family and himself in recent months (due to financial problem?). What the heck? If they're that twisted, whatever, but why take out their loved ones??! Makes no sense. I've read that this type of stuff occurred directly after the stock market crash of 1929, mostly in relation to stock brokers. I guess 20 and 9 is not a good combination. Whether 1929 or 2009 (pronounced "twenty-nine"). It just makes no sense.

Actually, the story was quoting the sheriff who said he had witnessed some pretty gruesome deaths including a baby's head being stuffed behind a headboard but said this is the worst murder scene he has ever seen in his life.

Apparently the entire family had deep slash marks in addition to a bullet to the head and killed himself with a shotgun.

We don't know if he stabbed them to death first and then shot them or vice versa.

The only other strange things that have been close to this was the D.C. snipers from about 10 years ago were caught at a rest area on a highway about 10 miles from our house.

And then there was the Blair Witch Project movie...the fictitious movie that took place in Burkittsville, MD. That is no more than 5 miles down the road from this house. Our church which they were also members of has a Burkittsville address since it is right outside our town limits but the cemetary from the opening scene is just a few miles further down the road.

This current "trend" of killing their families due to the economy is both frustrating and infuriating to me.

So killing women and children is a better option than being broke?

Give me a friggin' brake...I hope all those dudes rot in hell...pathetic cowardly pieces of putrid garbage scumbags.

Commitment. It's harder to kill yourself when there are options to make it out of a bad situation. Kill the family and it's much easier to off yourself. Sick stuff, eh?
Not a current trend at all, just getting more publicity; it has always happened.

Of course it happens all the time...but there's no denying it has increased...times are tough...

Having said that...all those dudes...I hope they come back reincarnated as mosquito excrement.

                            evil man

Thats horrible! Happens more then we think, always did, likley always will. People kill people and most of the time they do not fear our system! I knew and grew up with a guy who did 12 years for manslaughter, he laughed about it when he was released and straight out said he would do it again, he said " do an easy 12, so what! He killed that guy at like 20 years old in a street fight. And this new sicko who took out his family was one sick dude, i'm glad he did himself in, i just feel for the family, friends and community. It sure wasn't the gun, it was the evil man!

I remember hearing about the D.C. snipers on the news. They went on a rampage and got away with quite a bit before they were finally caught.

I also remember the Blair Witch Project movie. That was a freaky movie when it first came out.
