movies tied together in your mind because of double features

I always think of JAWS when watching Airport 1975 and vice versa, because I saw both films together in a double feature. Another kooky double feature (but not nearly as memorable to me as the JAWS/A 75 double feature) was Star Wars paired up with Orca at a drive in. That's how I saw Star Wars for a second time.

But when it comes to Star Wars, I'll also always remember that we went to see Star Wars and it was sold out so we saw "The Deep" instead. So, "The Deep" will always be the movie I saw because "Star Wars" was sold out.

Now, I was disappointed that I didn't get to see Star Wars that night, but seeing Jackie Bissett in a wet T-Shirt after she comes up from diving was nothing to sneeze at.

Gosh, they all actually run together in my mind. The only thing that I can think of is Jungle Book and Herbie the Love Bug.
    It's all good!

I remember during STAR WARS brief re-release in 1978 that it was paired up at a local theater in my neighborhood with "The Cheap Detective" (Starring Peter Falk). It was a silly, forgettable comedy murder-mystery

I don't necessarily think of TCD when I see STAR WARS. However I definitely think of STAR WARS whenever I encouter TCD!

Tale from the Crypt (1972 one with Joan Collins) and Night of the Lepus with DeForest Kelley! Was the summer before I got my first Mego (Aquaman at Christmas 1973).

Smokey and the Bandit and Superman -2

Shown as a double feature when Superman-2 was first released at my local Drive-In

The only double features I saw where I remember what both movies were are DAY OF THE ANIMALS/NIGHT CHILD and RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK/POPEYE. They aren't really tied together in my mind though. Oh, and PLANET TERROR/DEATH PROOF, but in that case they are kind of one movie, so I guess that doesn't count.

Kind of related, three movies that are kind of tied together for me are DAWN OF THE DEAD/THE THING/THE EVIL DEAD, because my dad had a video tape made with all three films together recorded in EP mode back in the early 80's. An instant horror film festival with three great films, that tape was a standard in our house throughout my teen years.

I saw that double feature too. They cut out the arm cracking scene in The Fly at the double feature I saw (it might've been due to print damage but I saw the movie before and picked up on it right away and complained about it)

The Devil Rides Out / To The Devil A Daughter.

The reason i remember this is that i was underage and should not be allowed in the cinema. I spent 15 minutes convincing the lady in the ticket kiosk that i was of the correct age. She finally decided to believe me ( wait for it ) only for me to then ask for a child ticket.

The Empire Strikes Back followed by Flash Gordon. A great night for a nine year old boy at the drive-in.

Or was it ET and Flash Gordon? I'm getting to that age when my own past get tricky.

A lot of Hammer films seem like double features, even when they weren't intended to be.
I know I saw Dracula: Prince of Darkness and Dracula Has Risen From the Grave back to back some Saturday afternoon. I read that many Hammer films were presented as double features, sometimes to disguise the fact that they had used the same sets repeatedly.
