Like the old saying, it has happened to baseball.

Within the past five days, two players and a HOF announcer have died.

I wonder if two more porn stars kick it soon?

"Three on a match" is a military term. It was believed you could light two cigarettes before a sniper or the enemy could zero in on your location. If the match stayed lit long enough to light three cigarettes, the third person could easily be dead from enemy fire.

It is also rude to light your cigarette before lighting the other person's cigarette. You would light theirs first since you are the one who lit a match. This would keep the other person safer than you. This also refers to a sniper zeroing in on your location since the match is lit for quite some time.

It's a term conceived by coincidence.

If it comes in two's...no one points it out...if it comes in four's...nada...but when once in a while it does come in three's...and presto...it comes in three's.

Interesting. I never knew that either. Then again I would not be lighting any matches during war time. That is just asking for it in my opinion. That much I do know. Then again I do not smoke either so to each their own. I suppose that is also where the term comes in smoking kills people. If one lit a match and a sniper zeroed in on it which they would if there was one around it would be lights out. Hast La vista Baby! In essence smoking like that really would kill a person. To each their own I suppose. Just don't light up next to me during war time or at a gas station.

Staying with the main theme of this post though it is sad to see anyone go before their time. Whether it is in 2's 3's 4's or any number. I am sure that they will definitely be missed. RIP I personally think that superstition is a bunch of crap. Again though to each their own.
