I must say it's about time! We should NEVER negotiate with pirates. I'm really happy in the end we did the right thing. I was concerned the longer that poor captain was held captive the more chance he would end up dead.
they got the captain back i believe if i red that post right on yahoo
Yes, The Captain is safe and sound. What a joyous day for him, his family members and his crew members. I bet he will not forget about this day for some time to come. I wouldn't much blame him. I am just glad that all turned out well for him in the end.
Enjoy what you like, and let others enjoy what they like. (C) Azrak 2009
I have been wondering how long it would be for the U.S. to get involved and "flex their mighty muscle". I knew it was just a matter of time. You don't screw around when there is BIG money in play.

this was the 1st US ship they tried to over take. the US was staying out of the way other than some ships patroling the area, but it is a large area.
I'm glad the captain is safe.
That was an impressive bit of military skill from those snipers.
If the Somalia government and surrounding countries weren't so horribly broken (and perhaps funding and arming the pirates in a giant Big Man extortion ponzi scheme) Pirates wouldn't be an international news headline because they'd be busy with regular jobs.
Not sure that'll happen anytime soon though.

Sucks.
Somalia needs to do something to stop these guys. They are super poor but can afford rocket launchers, AK47's, boats to attack, and radios to coorinate their attacks? I have no sympathy for these low lifes. I say we should heavily arm our ships that go into that area. The one thing that gets me is they have the nerve to threaten us more for getting our guy back? Maybe the rest of the world can tolerate this behavior but we never should.
BTW there was a cruiser there for two days watching the pirates from a safe distance. I'm not sure why you guys think we just got ships in the area.
