Remember Kathy Ireland? Sports Illustrated cover girl?

I recently saw where she developed a weight problem and... Great googly, moogly!!! My jaw hit the ground. You never could have paid me to believe she would let herself go like that, but I guess she's human like all of us. Now as the picture suggests, she conquered the bulge and came back, but it doesn't mean it won't hurt seeing her "dark side" of the moon. Holy moly...Now THAT is a Big Mac attack -

I never understood our culture's obsession with tracking the weight gains and losses of female celebrities. Women's weight tends naturally fluctuate, especially during pregnancy and after child birth.

The media's obsession of berating and scrutinizing women’s weight causes me no end of irritation. They get attacked by the media if the gain and they get attacked by the media if they lose. They're pretty much screwed and people wonder why so many young women have eating disorders.

Sorry, didn't mean to jump on any one, this just really irks me.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I think many of the responses make the case for what these people go through to maintain an image. It's hard to accept when one of our iconic personalities fall off the pedestal of 'perfection' as the market defines it. We refuse to believe it's them and then deny it to ourselves. The idea of them is more important than the person themselves. In some ways, after being surprised, I was pleasantly impressed that she was able to let the crazy diets and workouts go for a while. I'm sure she felt liberated.
