A few months ago my father was diagnosed with melanoma blastoma in the lymph nodes in his leg. The local doctors in Poughkeepsie basically gave a grim prognosis and wanted to do some major surgery by removing all the nodes in his leg and pelvic area. After a bit of persuading we talked him into going to Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital in NYC for a second opinion. Needless to say we were very impressed with what they had to say. The prognosis was much more hopeful and they were not so quick to want to carve him up.
I am happy to say he had the surgery there this morning. They removed the few lymph nodes with the cancer and all the scans are clear. No chemo, no radiation. He just has to get regular checkups to make sure it does not return.
I am not much for religeon but "Thanks God"
