My son is BIG into Super Heroes right now, mostly because of my tireless efforts. He's 2 and a half years old and I have been doing my best to get him to like Megos (he currently has Batman, Robin, Spiderman, a custom Flash, a repro Jet Jungle, 2 generic Pirates, and a custom Mister Freeze all on repro bodies of course...thanks Doc Mego).
Watching him enjoy his Heroes is great. I'm reliving my childhood through him and he says some of the cutest things. I know I'm biased, but I find him adorable.
About 2 weeks ago, he says, "Daddy. Let's watch squishy Batman and Robin." I had no idea what he was talking about so I had to question him a little. Turns out "squishy Batman and Robin" is the 60's Batman show starring Adam West. I have no idea where he got the "squishy" thing. A few days later we watched Wonder Woman (Lynda Carter) and sure enough, she is now "squishy Wonder Woman". George Reeves is "squishy Superman".
His favorite Superhero is Green Wantern. His first superhero was a 9" Green Lantern so I guess that's why.
He loves Haquaman, Hawkman, Cappin Cold, Wunner Woman, Superman, Batman, Robin, Bwack Manta, Wex Woofour, and Sowomun Grundy. Let's not forget Grodd. Of course he likes "space monkey" and the Wunner Twins, and even Patchy Chief and Firestorm.
I know this post is pretty lame, but I'm a very proud dad. He watches the Superfriends all the time and names every character during the intro. I have been buying him the DC Universe figures and he loves them too. He uses them and his "Megos" together.
I'm most proud of the fact that his 2 favorite action figures (besides Green Wantern of course) are his "Mego" Batman and Robin. He takes them everywhere. To the store, to bed, to go potty, etc. They take alot of abuse, but he hasn't broken them yet.
The other day I got an EMCE Mugato in the mail. My son wants it. I guess it's the awesome fashion sense that attracts him. Just like dad. Mugato is my 2nd favorite EMCE Alien after the Romulan.
I used to fear that he'd be a Hot Wheel kid since he loved cars for the first year and a half of his life. Not that it's a bad thing. I still have Hot Wheels. But now I know he'll be a chip off the old block. I can tell he's gonna be just like dad.
Being a Mego dad sure is fun. I have a Superhero kid now! It RuLeS!
