As many of you know...my 2008 Spring cover was the winning entry for the Laney College Literature Magazine/Book Publication last year.

Man Hec they both look great and I'm not just saying that

I like the 2nd one better but I have a feeling they'd go with the bird one

Most women like the hummingbird one...while men tend to like the movie theater more.

Just an observation.

I personally like the spartan look of the movie theater more...it's not as "busy" as the hummingbird one. But the hummingbird seems to wow people more in person...mmm...we shall see.

Wow Hector...very impressive ! I like them both very much. The movie theatre one is very well done and like pcofmisfittoys said it's a great example of positive and negative. However my choice would be the Humming birds Spring is in the air , the colors are vibrant , it just makes you feel good to look at it. I know that sounded silly but thats how it makes me feel. Either way with either one...I hope you win Hector , Bueno suerte

I like the second better, because the first has too much obvious repetition of the same shapes.

Both show a WORLD of improvement over the first... not that the first was bad, but your latest ones show a depth and tone that's missing from the first.

I would go with the humming birds it has a more modern feel to the graphics. While I like the movie theatre one it reminds me too much of the artwork for "A Chorus Line" and it might be thought of as derivative to whomever is judging.

The Hummingbird cover strikes me more, although I'd consider punching up the Title Font somehow, it just seems lacking somehow.

The second one is nice, but it looks like half theatre, half church. Unless that is representative of a local landmark, it might not fly. Just my opinion.

I like the huming birds.
Wow you look at the cover you won with then look at you new ones and you can see how you really progresses in a year. Your current art is (IMHO) much better.
You should have no problem winning again this year.

My vote's for the hummingbird, but I dig both. Hector, your stuff is incredible. There's a kind of feeling of the 70s in a lot of what you do... without a full-on retro look. Lots of talent and lots of work it seems to me.
