Kickin' it old school w/ SSP racers at my school!

Yesterday, it was Caesar Chavez day, and Oakland Public Schools were closed, but (surprise!) my center was open. I brought my mini Citgo SSP racers (both Laker Specials!) and the kids had a blast! We made book and block ramps, and even had a tournament race, (best distance out of 5 turns). It was so much fun. I have many fun memories of my little blue Citgo Laker special when I was 5 years old, and I'm glad my kids got a taste of that!

Just thought I'd share. Carry on, people!

I have five SSPs and the smash up derby from when I was a kid. I take the sturdiest one out for my 3 and 1/2 year old son every once in a while and he just giggles with enjoyment non-stop. He loves the noise it makes and that you can jump them with do-it-yourself ramps and such. My daughter loses interest a bit though, she wants to pull the cord, but can't quite get the power behind the pull, yet.
            It's all good!

"Crash-bang-smash 'em up! Smash up derby is fun!!!!!!!!!"

I loved those things.I had the original smash up set (Ford/Chevy) and spent hours doing crazy stunts with them!
My buddy had one that looked like a metallic red rocket ship and shot sparks out.....It looked great in the dark when it tore across the basement floor. (Werent they recalled?)

I don't think they were. The sparks are not dangerous. I used to run mine on the carpet in our house and nothing ever happened. It still works after all this time.
