    Travel Woes

Given this choice, which sounds less painful?

a 10 hour flight, an 11 hour lay-over and then a 7 hour final flight

    or

a 5 hour flight, a two hour lay-over and then a 17 hour final flight?

I have to say neither sound too appealing to me. Are you flying to the moon or something?? Dang thats a lot of travel time.

Neither. Both choices sound pretty bad

Having flown to Africa several times, I'd pick the first option. Layovers are an excellent opportunity to people watch, stretch the legs, and it give you room to breath incase the flights change.

With the second option you only have a 2 hour layover, but if something goes wrong with the 1st flight you could easily miss the second one then have to take a later one thus extending your total travel time considerably. Especially if you are dealing with customs or language barriers in between flights.

You do realize they proved the Earth is not flat about 500 years ago?

My personal choice would be #2 providing (as stated above) that the first flight isn't delayed so you miss the second flight. I hate sitting in the airport.
Every flight I took last summer was a nightmare...both directions. I'll NEVER fly Delta again...and that was my first time flying with them.

I think maybe Jessica is trying to hit a space warp to the future so she can vacation in Ape City!

I would love to be in your position and have the choice to go. You must be going to somewhere very nice.

I would go with the first option, it seems to be far more balanced.

I think we are headed for option #2. We have tried Option #1 many times in the past. It's a long haul no matter how you look at it.

We have even suffered through a 13-hour layover before, with a five-month old (Ethan). NOT FUN!!!

Hoping to hit that time warp and head for Ape City.

My nephew had similiar options when he flew to Sumatra a few years ago.

If the two hour layer after the five hour flight has you in NYC that should be just enough time to get to the International section and board your flight.
Personally, I'd rather spend more time abroad, even if it is just in the airport.

Not long enough to be Australia or NZ, I'll guess Malaysia?

I would definately go with option two, the layovers are long and boring. When I went to Japan I had a 2 hour layover in Alaska and a 6 hour in Seoul. 24 hours all together. At least in flight you can watch a movie or nap without worrying about someone robbing you. Have a great trip.

Depending on where you were doing the layover, I'd go with the first option.

If I were flying into Frankfurt, Germany, for example, I'd love an 11 hour layover. You could do a lot with a long layover like that in a place like that.

The flights all seem horrible, tho.
