Very Sad. Oakland is a beautiful place. My wife's grandmother used to live just outside of the city. My thoughts are with the families.
    It's all good!

Many parts of Oakland are very nice...but many others not so nice.

The flatlands is were most of the violent crimes happens...while on the hills...it's quite the opposite.

      It's a city of extremes...that's for sure.

Parolee?! Our current laws are too lenient on criminals. I think if these new criminals want to live life like they are in the old west, they should be punished as such. Maybe that would deter the violence.

Well, the crime is starting to affect the better neighborhoods too. I live near the "China Hill" area, and in the last year, there has been a woman who had the tires stolen off her car, the same woman was putting her key in the door, and some guy shoved her inside and held her up at gunpoint. We've also had 1 carjacking, 2 smash & grabs, and and attempted rape. I'm almost afraid to leave this house.

              Agreed.

I find the following quotes unbelievable:

As for the slain shooting suspect, Hege said, "The man was evidently terribly desperate. It is a sad story."

LaTasha Mixon, 28, of Sacramento said Sunday her cousin was "not a monster." She said her family's prayers were with the slain officers' relatives.

Was "not a monster" my butt...the piece of crap took four lives for no reason...he was just being stopped for a traffic-related incident...unreal.

I'm just glad he's no longer on this Earth.

My thoughts are for the slain officers and their families.

I'm talking about murders and drive by shootings...those are basically unheard of on the more affluent neighborhoods.

Turns out the monster who killed the cops was a rapist as well...even connected to the rape of a 12 year old little girl...

                    Cop-killer suspected of raping 12-year-old

What a worthless scumbag...I hope he is frying in hell right now.

You think it can't get any worse and then you find out about this.

You know what kills me about these cases is the family always seem to pull that " My kid would have never done this" act.
There was an incident here in Augusta back in December where a guy with several felonys already treid to run over several cops in a stolen SUV. They promptly shot and killed the guy, and it caused a near riot in the suspcets neigborhood. It was found that the pillar of society behind the wheel of the SUV wasnt armed, only had a ton of drugs on him. So it turned to the police didnt have to shoot him because he was unarmed, never minding the fact a speeding SUV is a quite a weapon. Stupidity at its finest.
It turned to he was trying to straighten out his life, while driving a stolen car loaded with dope. He was on the right road. Must have been working on his college thesis.

Senseless act of violence...my heart goes out to the families. Here's one for you guy's.....a couple years ago a police officer by the name of Michael Briggs was shot and killed here in Manchester , N.H. He was a good cop and very well respected. Now here's the irony....2 years before he was called to a domestic disturbance in which 2 men and a woman were fighting....like trying to kill each other fighting and Officer Briggs did whatever it was he needed to do to stop the fight and ended up saving one of the men's life. Fastforward now 2 years.....again called to a disturbance when he arrived one of the men involved pulled a gun and shot Officer Briggs , killing him. The man that killed him was the man whose life he saved 2 years earlier.....What a way to say thank you huh ? Senseless......and so very sad.
