A concerts a place to cut loose and let it all out.I refuse to pay those high prices for an adult beverage inside the show,so sometimes the drunks carring on are as good as the concert. We saw James Taylor with some friends a couple years ago at an outside venue.I swear half the people on the lawn where stoned 50 and 60 year olds. Recapturing their youth I guess.Comment

I can't believe this is even an argument.
Ya know what ticks me off, when i'm at a sporting event and someone stands up and cheers. You wanna cheer do it from in front of your tv. Please note i am only joking around here.Comment

That's all part of the concert experience. Seeing a performer live is not so much about the singing, (since we all know they sound different from the albums b/c you're not listening to a tweaked recorded version), as it is about seeing your favorite performers live, and the joy and excitement that brings. Yeah, folks are gonna sing, dance, scream, stand up, wave lighters, throw things on stage, that is unless of course you're going to a classical music concert. It's an event, and it's only natural that fans get into the spirit of the thing. I'm sure if you asked any performer, they'd tell you it would be a very dull concert indeed if all the fans ever did was sit quietly in their seats and clap between numbers.
Though I can think of a few exeptions.
As has been mentioned, something like TSB where it is more a family show, and you are there to see the light show and just enjoy the music.
But if you are going to a rock show, it is expected. And I have even seen bands complain about dead audiences. My favorite band, Iron Maiden, is always complaining about American concert goers that just want to sit there in the front rows and eat some food while watching a show. A concert is to be experienced, not just watched. (trust me, I have plenty of bootlegs from the last few tours with Bruce ranting about just that subject)
Now the big thing is the people who take up space in the front just so they can stand there and take pictures constantly with their cell phones. Half the time they aren't even paying attention to the actual concert. They are so busy checking to see if they got the shot right, or emailing the pictures to friends.
I love being in the pit, or on a GA floor for a show. That's the best. When you can be right in the thick of things. The only thing that bums me out is that I am 42 and I can rock harder and longer than kids less than half my age. Makes me wonder just what does it take to get them excited enough to cut loose and ride the adrenyline rush.Comment

I hear that!
I don't drink any alcohol when I go to concerts.
First, I have to drive home afterwards. Usually at least a 2 hour drive too.
Second, I want to remember as much of the show as I can.
Third, I don't need chemicals to enjoy a concert, the music is my drug of choice.Comment
