Catalog Overload or why I barely collect toys anymore

In organizing my new work space, I thought I had planned out enough space for my catalog collection, which prior to this had taken over the whole house. Well, I managed to get about 2/3 of into this space before I realized two things:

    a) I have a problem
    b) I have waaaaaay too many vintage catalogs

I need to get back into action figures....

Thats alot of Catalogs. I wish that I would have kept some from my childhood. I used to love starring at all the toy ads and wishing that I had them all

Ahhh, those JCP spines sure bring back some memories. We used to have two or three years worth stacked under our coffee table cuz my mother never threw them out..

Brian, you can always send me some of the stuff off the book shelf to the right, this will free up some space.

He is right. You may need to make some movable spacers for bracing. I had to do that for all my bookcases because I like to stack to fill air space.

Ah, you're just keeping them all for the vintage ladies' underwear pictures.

When I was a kid, I didn't understand there was a time limit for ordering stuff. I'd collect old comics and see something really neat I wanted in the back.

Of course, the offer expired about 15 years earlier.

I'd call that a fire-hazard if I wasn't so jealous! Good thing you don't collect phone books too!

I wish I had the space, or I'd collect more. I only have a '71 Spiegel, a '73 JCPenney's and a '74 Montgomery Wards. (all Xmas editions) I love looking through them and remembering when. And I love that old, musty smell, don't you?

I know that this is going to sound stupid, but have you considering storing them all digitally? A lot of current printed things, such as academic journals, are being replaced with digital only versions. The hard copies are quite limited. I know that you've already been doing something along these lines at your site, but I guess I mean you could scan them or have them digitally replaced and store the hard copies somewhere more convenient.
Like I said, it's kind of already what you're doing, but there has to be a better way, there usually is.

You should try a Guiness Book stunt by stacking them up and standing on them. Watch out for those airplanes though!
