I'm not a die hard Simpsons fan and I don't watch them on a regular basis, but I have caught the show from time to time. I just saw the movie last night and what can I say? I loved it!! I agree with that one comment about Bart's rollerskating scene. It was definitely a highlight.

Regarding what everyone here has been saying about Homer Simpson, this is coming from someone who doesn't watch the show regularly. I actually like Homer better than Bart and he gives me aching belly laughs every time I watch it. Homer had me in stitches in the movie and I love his "Hulk Homer" episode the best of the best. I personally enjoy Homer as a total idiot. But at the same time, I guess I can see what everyone else is saying and that he started off mildly dumb and then they upped the ante on the stupids. Just like what Happy Days did to Fonzie. He started off a natural cool and then in season three and beyond, he sort of turned into "Super Fonz" in terms of his cool and attractability to women.
But what can I say? I'm a Homer Simpson fan and I love to do his voice along with the voices of Marge, Bart, Grandpa, Marge's sisters, the Principal, Mr Burns and Smythers. And of course Apu.
    Cheers.

Saw it tonight. I thought it was pretty good. About the same as an above average episode (of recent years) with a better "quality" to the animation.

Got quite a few chuckles out of seeing it.

Watched it last night. It was funny. I agree with the earlier post that it starts out really funny, then drags a little, before picking up for the last act. I definitely agree with most others that the show has long since seen its best days and that Homer becoming an absolute idiot brought the show down.

glad to see some one has the same views as me, I have gotten into countless arguements about the lack of quality of recent simpsons episodes. The 'original' simpsons was about a typical american family and the thing's that they went through which could be applied to every day life, so in a way, we could relate to things like Bart being bullied, having trouble at school etc.
Now though, the writers have made Bart into a criminal and Homer is some one you would expect to be on severe amounts of medication.
The simpsons died A LONG time ago.
Good points there. Don't get me wrong, when I watch a new episode, I still enjoy it more than most sit-coms on TV, but I used to LOVE it. I think the gradual change from more subtle humor to out and out buffoonery and outlandish situations is what did it.

Like I said, I may see it if I get the chance. Reviews from online boards seem to be pretty positive.

A Family Guy movie? I'm almost afraid to give those guys complete freedom!!!

My 2 daughters (3 and 11 yrs old) and I are going to see it tomorrow. I'm not really a big Simpsons fan but they want to see it and that's good enough reason to see it to me.

We had a special screening at work today, and it was a lot of fun.

The first third is really, really funny, the middle drags a little,
but the laughs pick up again towards the end.

Nothing really sets it apart from the TV show except for a few moments,
but overall it was really enjoyable. Pretty much all the regular characters make an appearance, and A. Brooks is the main guest star. Comic Book Guy has a line that will live on in You Tube infamy, but Bart's Skateboarding scene is easily the highlight of film.

I was there at the very beginning, and I'll be sitting in the theatre sometime in the next week, you can be sure. I don't catch all the new eps these days, and when I do I admit I'm often bored, but there are still gems every season it seems. It still does pretty well after 18 seasons, and what - 400 episodes?

Playmates Simpsons line of toys from 2000-2004 was the last modern toy line I collected, and may very well be the LAST line I ever collect.

And here I thought it was just me...my kids seem interested in seeing the movie but I think we'll pass. Simpsons just haven't done it for me since the early 90s (and even then I wasn't a die hard fan).

Now if it was "The Family Guy: The Movie" I'd be there this weekend. Freakin' sweet!

My wife is a HUGE Simpson fan so yeah we're either going to see it tomorrow or Saturday. She's trying to get all the Squishy cups at 7-11.

I like the Simpsons but it seem like the last few seasons really haven't been that funny at all. The stories also seem to be less coherant and a jumbled mess. Personally, as much as I used to like it, I think they should have cancelled this show a long time ago and ended it on a high note.

And none of the previews for this movie have struck me as particularly funny (although the Spider-Pig thing did make me chuckle). Hope it won't be just more of what they've been churning out the last few seasons.
