Impossible. We are scattered worldwide. There is an event coming up in a few weeks in Birmingham, UK that I can't go to (wish I could). That would SO rock if I could...So far there are 6 members confirmed on attending that event dressed up as gorillas. I'm so jealous!

We'll just have to pretend in the living room until I can find a place that looks like Ape City. We are planning a trip to Kenya in August. If we go there I'm going to insist on going to a safari at Maasai mara. The guest mud huts look VERY Ape City over there.

Future gorilla. If we are going to Ape City, he needs to be dressed for success!! I was going to make myself a gorilla outfit to wear as pajamas...but I think Ashton deserves a gorilla outfit more than me.

Thank you. He's my sweetie and he's such an ape fan. Here he is wearing his own home made appliances:

Cute little guy, you should tell him the "truth", that Ape City is in the very distant future

He's real cute, Jessica. One bit of worry since I am a paranoid parent:
One of the reason that toy companies have been making toy guns in all sorts of neon colors is so they wouldn't be mistaken for the real thing. Just be careful spraying and making his Nerf toy look too Ape like.

                    It's all good!

Yeah, I sure hate that rule, especially with the re release of the Star Wars toy guns molded in white and red, etc. I would hate to have a red and orange toy riffle as a kid that screamed it was a fake toy.

The rule is there, especially so that robbers can't use fake guns for robberies (unless, they are smart enough to know how to use spray paint) and for the few times that kids got shot pointing a toy gun at a real cop (the problem there is not the toy gun, but the child not being taught he can't point anything that looks like a gun at anyone who doesn't know it's a toy without consequences).

But I think responsible parents, with responsible kids don't have to worry about what color their toy guns are because they teach their kids how to play with them appropriately. When I was a kid and when my parents were kids, there were realistic toy guns up the wazoo and we all survived.

Sorry for the rant, but being reminded that you can't get anything other than dayglo color toy guns these days pressed my "I hate PC" button.

I am home today and taking care of Ashton since he's got such a bad cold. Today we are going to spray paint his rifle brown. I was going to make myself a pair of screen accurate gorilla PJs, but I think Ashton is more deserving than I.

I have laid out his clothes on top of the gynormous mongo pants (size 2XXL) that I got months ago. I bought two of these pants just for the fabric. Whatever I have leftover I will save for my gorilla action figures.

Ashton already tried to modify the colors of the rifle and went at it with a permanent marker. And yes, those are my crazy monkey socks.

After the first coat of paint the rifle already looks loads better.
