    My (semi) new computer

Last month I got a refurbished Dell Optiplex GX270 and have been spending tonight finishing up transferring files from my old computer and downloading drivers. Right now I'm taking it for a test spin here at The Museum. Best part is that the hard drive came with nothing on it so I don't have all of that clutter from Microsoft.

My daughter has now been on myspace and a new one called meebo. I am now re-formatting my house computer, her pc, and her laptop. The meebo site is by far the worst and I highly suggest staying away from it. Started the family pc last night and after bootup the task manager had 48 items running before I clicked on a thing. I've removed 4 trojan viruses alone according to Mcafee as of this morning and I'm sure there will still be some left when I get around to clearing the system 32 files later. My wife started on facebook a few weeks ago and is already commenting her laptop is significantly slower lately so I wonder if there is some sort of tracking going on there. Why does my family get upset when I scream when they use my laptop? Guess it's time to put the password access back up on that before I'm cleaning out my computer as well. Best of luck with the new computer. I think my family is getting netbooks for christmas so I can just throw em away when they start to suck.

Naw, you don't have to get used to it. My wife has her own computer and when my son gets a bit older he can use my old computer (about 4 years old, still runs great). Neither one is touching my new computer.

What are you doing, running Linux on it?

No I'm running XP Pro. It just seems that for whatever reason a computer that comes pre-loaded with everything seems to have more junk on it.

My computers are fine. It's theirs I'm cleaning out. Got my daughter's laptop done, and now I'm getting close to done on the house PC. After that I'll tackle the bad one which is my daughter's PC in her room. Mine work fine because I don't let them touch them but occasionally I come home from work and it's not where I left it so I know they've touched it.
