Oh yeah, croquettes are really good, (I believe they actually originated in France, named from the French word "croquer") and I think they are basically the same as "krokketen". My wife often makes the Japanese version, which are called "korokke", and often have vegetables, and some ground beef or pork mixed in with the potatoes. They are served with kontatsu sauce (kind of like BBQ sauce) and Kewpie mayo.

I think the main difference between all of the above and tater tots is the texture of the potato inside. The above all basically have mashed potatoes inside I believe, while tater tots are more made up of small, minced pieces of potatoes, soft (but not a mashed consistency) on the inside, and crunchy on the outside. Like hash brown patties.

I love a tater-tots. The lunchroom ladies at school work wonders with them. Last week we had "shepherd's pie" that featured them.

So they're not similar? Then I gues I'll have to try taters one day, if I ever get in the US
You would probably have a hard time finding tator tots. I don't know many restaurants that serve them.... ? At least not here in the NY/NJ area.

    Maybe a fast-food joint?

Tator Tots were the only good thing in the high school lunch!

Don't have them much now, but they are tasty!

They come in different shapes and sizes over here, even with different flavors and fillings
In English those are Croquettes and Us Cubans call them Croquetas they're nothing like taters though

    Croquettes are much better

As far as I am concerned, anything potato and fried is good by me

BTW< Tator Tots are a result of Ore-ida wanting to find a way to utilize all the potato scraps and pieces that came from making French Fries. I love that sort of ingenuity.
