Anyone catch Cramer vs Stewart on the Daily Show?

Highly recommended especially if you follow the whole finance crisis that is killing the country. Cramer is a host of a financial show on CNBC and Stewart hosts the Daily Show on Comedy Central for those that don't know. Stewart while on a comedy based channel is one of the most intelligent interviewers I've ever seen. And unlike many does his homework. They questioned CNBC about their ethics on reporting and suggesting actions on financial strategies and the rest of the media blew it up, and the execs at CNBC sent Cramer on the DS to defend the station and he was toast before he ever knew what hit him. Stewart even has the decency to call CNBC out for pretty much hanging Cramer out to dry and saying it's not his fault, he's just the one that had his face affixed to the situation. I added the link below. Very entertaining especially if you're a follower of the finance issue, and if you're not Stewart does make many things easier for the common man to understand. View the uncensored one if you can. It truly shows the passion Stewart has for the current financial situation. Don't let the kids listen as it does have some choice words which Stewart is not known for but his obvious dissatisfaction comes through brilliantly. For those that enjoy staying up to date on current news events and don't like feeling depressed after seeing them on the common news shows, The Daily Show and Colbert Report which follows it are something you should check out. Informative, entertaining, and a little comedy mixed in.

That would be great TV. Not a big fan of OReilly but he is intelligent and that would be some great debating back and forth.

He's been on the Daily Show a few times. Funny thing; the two play off of each other REALLY well, and are BOTH pretty funny. (They need their own show.)

The Kramer interview was great. I like how Stewart asks questions and then.... y'know... waits for an answer. You don't see that so much on tv any more. It kinda bugs me that I have to see this kind of thing on a comedy show and not the REAL news....

Speakin' on which; I thought it was really sad how the REAL news had latched on to the original back and forths, and how there was endless commentary about the interview all weekend. Gee.... WHY is this sort of thing so SURPRISING? Shouldn't ALL interviews swork like this? Or has pandering or browbeating become the norm?

Oh, my! I saw this and was humbled... so weird how Cramer claimed to run an "entertainment show" that was centered around finance. Putting himself in the same category as Stewart and Colbert! Highly dubious at best.

At the same time, I saw this "comedian" get really serious while maintaining a sense of humor, truly analyzing the value and questioning the agenda of CNBC. Nice grilling Cramer got!


Gotta give Stewart credit on this one.

Well we all know he surely is not the next Rush Limbaugh. I think Stewart should stick to what he does well, comedy and let others point the finger. I sometimes think Stewart is funny but other times is only pushing a political agenda. Be one or the other, I for one prefer the comedian.

I don't know about that. Stewart is a comedian but he's easily as intelligent as anyone in the news industry. And he may be more intelligent than most. His show while on a comedy channel is as direct on with the news of the day as any out there and more and more people are realizing that they can not only be informed but entertained. The Daily Show has weeded out the death and destruction that many straight line news programs direct at and addresses the major issues that hit the common guy right at home. I don't need to see the results of bombs being dropped, I need to know what's being done to make sure it stops. These shows have faced issues like that. I can personally say that until I started watching this I had shyed away from the news media simply because half of what they report centers on stuff that I have no interest in and the DS is addressing things that affect me directly. Plus when was the last time you could say the evening news made you laugh and taught you something about what's going on in the world. More and more people are realizing this show is garnering a lot of attention from the class of people they want to address and coming on board. The Cramer interview got a lot of press because it was aimed at CNBC. Cramer was just the face many associated with it but Stewart openly states that is a mistake and he is hardly more than a scapegoat for the real issue which is CNBC. The underlying truth is CNBC wants a show that has the entertainment ability Stewart gets from the two shows he oversees(Daily Show, and the Colbert Report), but they can't achieve it and actually report the news they need to with the same results. Their mainline news shows are informing but hardly entertaining. I would love to see what would happen to the other nightly news shows if these two were on a major network every evening. There would have to be some major changes. I've met a lot of comediens and a lot of politicians, believe me the comediens aren't so dumb.

I saw that the other night and rolled off the couch laughing. Stewart absolutely buried him alive. It was about time someone called it the way so many of us have been seeing it. I have never quite understood the popularity behind Cramer. He's like a Wallstreet gypsy predicting the future with a campy personality that, I guess, some investors like. To me it's pretty simple - If your an "expert" of the marketplace, why would you give away your best advice to undermind your own financial ventures? Answer - You don't. Winning at the stock market is all about forward thinking...and manipulation. Cramer has that tatooed to his head. That's why this show has a disclaimer before it starts.

I'll respect Stewart more when he takes the outrage vented on someone like Cramer (who is a buffoon but simply was following the conventional wisdom of the time) and take it to someone that deserves it more, like Barney Frank or Chris Dodd (who was covering for the banks that ended up needing bailouts because they were getting greased and triggered this whole mess).

Stewart was actually bitter at the whole network. This was a running thread on the Daily Show all last week; but it was the regualr news networks that played the Stewart vs Kramer angle. He was probably the only guy who'd appear on the show.

I think if you're gonna make fun of something you've got to put it into some sort of context, and play off of that. So I find the Daily Show spends more time with stories, and gets into them more than the regular news. (Which tends to play like a powerpoint presentation any more. "Here's this, here's that, look at this, now over here....") THey alos do a LOT more follow ups than the real news.

I've heard that a few times, but I've never heard an explanation as to WHAT agenda he's pushing.

I think he has some definite opinions on things, and I think the Cramer interview illustrates why I prefer Stewart to most other pundits and commentators. He brought one of the people he disagrees with onto the show, and he brought refrences. He'd show clips supporting his arguments. He'd respond to counter arguments; rather than leaving his summations as "well, that's just what THOSE GUYS think, isn't it? They're so wrong...." Given the proliferation of commentators the last decade or so I really wish more would do that, y'know.... facilitate dialogue between camps; rather than coccoon themselves and their audience.

I kinda hope not, 'cos I find Franken suffers from the coccooning thing I mentioned.
