    paypal security check

I tried logging into my paypal acct yesterday and it said that they were doing a random security check and I needed to give them my bank acct info or credit card number. I got out of there and went to a different computer to log in. Same message. I first thought it was some sort of scam but I physically typed in the paypal address. Anyone else ever have to do this. I think it's legit but want some input first. I work to hard to have my money taken by some idiot scammer.

    I never had too.

Does Paypal have customer service phone number ?

Maybe try giving them a call before you do anything.

Definitely call or email them before adding any account information.

Do not add account info. Call them or email first.

And just to be on the safe side, if there's a phone number or help email address listed on that page that want's your info, don't call or email that one.

Get them off the net at Paypal's main home page.

I had to do the same thing. I thought it was a little weird at first, but it turned out to be ok

Couple of months ago paypal requested a pic of me and proof of where I live because I had exceeded a certain of amount of received funds in my account in one year. This was to make sure I wasn't laundering money. I get small amounts in my account from to time (which don't last there very long ), $25 here, $40 there, that kind of stuff. Does that sound like I'm laundering money? I ignored it since my paypal account wasn't blocked and I could still send and receive money. Finally, after a few months, they said everything was OK again and they didn't need the info anymore. Go figure

                    Paypals phone number is 1-866-775-8151

As far as I know Paypal will never ask for more than the last 4 digets of the card they have on file.

That's just bizarre. Looks like you took the correct approach though.

Paypal, like ebay, has plenty of employees that are just idiots and probaly would be near unemployable in the real world.
