Hiya folks.
So we hosted a garage sale of our own this weekend. Trying to get rid of umpteen thousand boxes of baby/kid clothes along with the shrapnel from our big move EIGHT years ago.
My wife's brother, Tim, called and asked if he could set up some shop with us and see if he could peddle anything from his load of stuff. This guy is a junker, always on the lookout for something to flip and he is also a non-stop talker. My wife usually dreads when he comes by, but I don't mind him. He is quirky, but that is what makes the world fun.
So we have a so so day with the sales and some fun and a lemonade stand for the kids. Tim has an enormous amount of film swag at the moment as he is working part time as a maintenance man at a movie theater. He also has a couple of portable refrigerators (which he sells?? ) and a giant stack of comics (mostly horror) that sit dead in the water all day. When we get to cleaning up, we sort of haggle a bit on the books and I end up spending some of our GS earnings on them. Tim is not exactly homeless, but he lives in a small trailer and most of what he owns goes with him from place to place as he buys and sells things, so I want to make sure he can at least fill up his gas tank before he goes home. We also make sure he is good and fed for the day; like I said, he doesn't have much.
I didn't really look at the comics beyond noting they were mostly horror and also mostly well loved and read. Nothing terrible, but no c9s or anything. Turns out there were a couple of 12 centers in there and a Daffy Duck from the 50s. About 30 books in all plus a Vampirella and some Kung Fu mag from the 80s. Good times.
Then, just before he leaves, Tim asks me to help him get something from the car and he hands me a couple of Watchmen posters. One with Rorschach and one with the Comedian flying out the window. "Picked these up when the theater decided not to screen this one," he says. "Thought you would like 'em."
Like 'em. AW YEAH!!
So I got a whole bunch of 60s and 70s comics to browse through and two HOT posters without even having to start my car. A nice day all around, really.
Have a good time
