My Dad's cousin was in a really big pop band in Europe but I doubt many have heard of him here. Occasionally, I find his records on Ebay.

Other than that I don't know, my mother's side has insanely generic names.

Yup. I'm cousins with both Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal, although I've never met either of them.

My great-grandmother and their great-grandfather were brother and sister. I think that makes us 3rd cousins, but I can't remember for sure. In any case, my parents kind of know their parents, but not a whole lot.

Interestingly enough, my roommate in high school (boarding school) is a second cousin of actor Scott Glenn (Silence of the Lambs, etc.).

Joseph Banks is an ancestor, and a great-grandfather was a bit of an Aussie sports legend around 100 years ago. I only saw that wikipedia entry a couple of days ago, I added the external links at the bottom myself. He was also an early player of Aussie Rules Football, where his boxing skills apparently came in handy!

My great uncle (Who only died a few years ago) was politician / businessman and was Knighted by the Queen, it was always fun calling a cab for him (or my great aunt), it's amazing how people jump at titles even in a place as egalitarian as Oz.

My dad grew up around lots of business leaders and politicians, it never excited him but I find the stories fascinating and hope to record them one day for my kids. He met quite a few international guests including The Beatles, my favourite story though is when Colonel Sanders (yes that one) was a house guest at my great-uncle's place and they served him a lavish dinner of... chicken. Lol. My great aunt said he was "a perfect southern gentlemen" who dressed for dinner, stood up when ladies entered or left the room and addressed people as sir or maam, like a refugee from the cast of Gone with the Wind. Indeed Sir!

            Cheers,
            Will

Brian is your dad's cousin in one of these bands?

If so I think you can legitimately blame Plaid Stallions on a genetic predisposition.

My wife's side of the family is directly related to Loretta Lynn and Jessie James. On my side, our ancestry is linked to Thomas Jefferson. Hows that for attracting opposites? I am very proud though to have many famous friends and artists behind some of our most classic movies. I'm a very lucky guy.

No but it really isn't much better, really Euro-80s looking thing.

Actually, a relative of mine made the spurs that Booth was wearing during the assasination and rented the horse that he used as his getaway. Apparently, he had no idea what he had done since this was his business. He was still brought to trial not as a co-conspirator but to testify what he had done.

Being a die hard REd Sox fan , this one hurts......My great Aunt married a man by the name of Gerry Stallard. Gerry had a brother named Tracy. Tracy Stallard was the pitcher that gave up Roger MAris' 61st homer tho break the Babes all time single season record. My cousin Tracy was named after him.

My fiancee is 2nd cousins with Tom Welling but she has never met him but has met his parents. We are still inviting him to the wedding in hopes he'll show up. But i doubt it.

I'm adopted, so who knows? Probably not though.

My dad's mom's maiden name was Swift. Rumor has it we're suppose to be related to the ones that make Swift's Sausages.
