I just saw that they are coming to my area on the 23rd of this month and plan on seeing them. It was a big event to me to see them on TV when I was a kid. I've only seen them once way back in 1985. They really put on a great show (even if it's the same show over and over)! I think Curly was still with them. Wish I could have seen them with Meadowlark Lemon!

I'm going to take my son to see them next Friday in my area. It's a father/ son tradition in my family. The line up is different then when I saw them last, but I'm sure they'll be just as fun to watch, same ol' jokes or not!Comment

I remember seeing them in a early 80s at Roberts Stadium just before Curly Neal left. They also still had "Geese" Ausbie. I loved watching them on ABC's Wide World of Sports!
- IanRampart, this is Squad 51. How do you read?Comment

Way back in the mid 80s I worked a dept store and the company had Meadowlark Lemon come in for the grand opening to sign pictures. This was after he left the Globetrotters, his pictures had some other team on them that he had formed to try & compete with the Globetrotters.
He had this whole list of rules- we had to have a girl to sit next to him at the table, we had to have gold, silver, and black sharpies, and weirdest of all, warm fresh cashews in a clear glass dish (preferably crystal). Someone had to run across town to find fresh cashews from a candy store at the mall because they could not be from a jar. Meadowlark was to sign from 11:00 AM to 2: PM. He arrived at 12:30, TOOK A HALF-HOUR LUNCH BREAK, and signed for an hour then left. There was a huge line and folks were not happy. The store gave gift certificates to about 50 people who complained.Comment

I remember going to see them as a kid. I had a Great Time. Everyone should see them at least once. There that Good. I haven't watched them in a long time. I loved watching there guest appearance on Scooby Doo. One of my all time favorite episodes only second to the one with Batman and Robin

I've only seen them on TV, quite a long time at that, but they do come to Belgium from time to time, but the shows are usually sold out pretty fast"...The agony of my soul found vent in one loud, long and final scream of despair..." - Edgar Allan PoeComment

Loved the Trotters as a kid. It goes to show how much stuff like ABC's Wide World of Sports popularized certain things years ago. I would have to bet most of our first experiences with the Trotters was through that show hosted by the one and only Howard Cosell. They'd be on once or twice a year and I'd watch em all the time. Same stuff but always worth watching. Today were all into DVD's and reality shows and shows like WWS have disappeared. I remember watching oddball sports like ski jumping and water polo and lacrosse (before it became a popular college sport) on WWS. I also think the Trotters were Curly, Geese, and Meadowlark, but have to wonder if that's because the newer members really never got the limelight/TV coverage the way the original members did because of changes in the times and TV viewing decisions/choices. I can't even tell you the name of a current member if they weren't there from the start. BTW I love the BK poster of Meadowlark Rob. Is that actually yours or an image from the web? It's not a doll it's an action figure.Comment

I remember seeing them as well when I was young...Curly, Meadowlark and Geese.
I can't remember who but someone could make shots from half court and I'm not just talking about occassionally but most of the time.
Don't they usually play some jive team called the Washington Generals and always beat them 100-4 or something like that? I think I did read somewhere that they played an NBA team (maybe the Celtics) for real and beat them too."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."
