We switched, and I haven't noticed the difference at all, and I was a huge fan of Cottonelle. We switched because we usually shop at Whole Foods or Trader Joe's, which don't carry major market brands, and I got tired of making a special trip to Safeway to buy super softie stuff. Turns out that was a "green" decision, and after looking at the facts I'm glad we switched.

But please, I cheerfully support your desire to wipe your butt with whatever you want, I just ask that you be thorough about it.

I was going to say we could wipe our butts with the hippies, but if the cheap TP chafes I shudder to think what the hippies would do.

You know, I can't tell you how often I have thought about that thread about Alana Morriset suggesting everyone use one sheet when I have gone to the loo. Though, I have tried hard to put it out of my mind.

I thought about that too, except it was Sheryl Crow, which led me to sing:

"If it makes you happy, then it can't be that bad.... If it makes you happy, then why do you smell so bad..."

            But to be serious:

It's always good not to waste, it's always good to find ways to do more with less, it's always good to pick up your trash. I do this without needing to be told. I don't need a trumped up, phony baloney, trendy "Green" movement to lecture me about "saving the Earth" when I am not endangering it.

I don't care if it's soft or hard...as long as the toilet paper is two-ply...I'm a happy camper.

I also buy whatever it's on special...sometimes the brand name ones...and sometimes the recycled ones.

But I go through a really time-consuming routine of "cleaning" myself down there...I use a LOT of toilet paper...then I use wet Brawny/Bounty paper towels...then I finish it off with Baby Wipes (scented of course)...if a shower is not schedule...I have to do all that...it's gotta be spotless regardless.

Except the stuff is clearly not sandpaper since the Fox anchor couldn't even tell the difference.

I'm all for you decideing on your own. There's no "must" about it. And Chris is right, its more about balance than any extreme.

I was more annoyed with Fox's open where they lead you towards the uninformed, knee-jerk reaction and then they admit the open was pretty misleading.

                        Has the same routine.

Does anyone who gets recycled paper have a product name that we could try-out? My only experience has been the stuff that they tried at work which seemed more like rolls of tracing paper.
                          It's all good!
