Pats trade Matt Cassel for a 2nd round pick?

Man what the hell were the Pats thinking? this guy was worth a lot more then a 2nd rounder, atleast 1st round picks was what every nfl expert was saying.Man Brady better be ready or this will be another AFC East title for Miami

This was a stupid mistake if you ask me,but atleast I won't be seeing his face twice a year.

what do you guys think? is it really over in NE,has the Dynasty finally come to an end?

KC comes out winning big time here.

I really doubt he'll be ready this year,it usually takes about 2 years to come back from that, that's the same surgery Carson Palmer had,and Carson's bigger and stronger then Brady

I actually haven't heard many people that upset. The biggest gripe has been they would have liked to see another pick like a 4th rounder added to the deal. The Pats needed to drop their cap number substantially so they opted to let KC take Vrabels 6 mill in lieu of another pick. I think the fact that many teams are dropping some top level players made them realize there are some good signings to be made. They didn't get a pick but they did get 6 mil to spend. The Pats rarely sign a high level first rounder because of the high signing bonus. There were many that doubted they would keep last years which they used to take Mayo who seems to be a quality player. Remember too that Cassel held some bargaining power. If he doesn't agree to sign an extension he can walk after next year so he can kinda control his destination which limits some of the possible teams he could go to. What you don't realize is that Cassel was almost cut coming out of training camp last year and Gutierrez the third string QB was higher rated before last year's performance. The Pats never intended to keep Cassel. It just doesn't make financial sense wether Brady is healthy or not. Before this trade they only had 3 mil in cap space. Now they have 23 mil and still haven't cut any roster players like most teams already have. They're gonna make something big in free agency. I can feel it. Brady will be fine. As for the dynasty being over...We lost Cassel and added Brady. Signed Fred Thomas as a backup RB that could still start for most teams for pennies. Still have at least 23 million to spend, and oh yeah we get back Adalius Thomas and Laurence Maroney who spent the season on the IR. Keep wishin and prayin I'm sure someday you'll be right. Not today but someday.

Man, that's idiotic, guess the Pats are still going to hang all their hopes on Brady. About as stupid as releasing Derrick Brooks down here in Tampa. Sure the guy is getting old, but he's done 14 seasons for the Bucs and that's how much respect the team had for him.

Between the two they gave $20,000,000.00 to the salary cap.
Maybe they should have got more for them but they really needed the room.
We have learned not to second-guess Bill; he may have something up his sleeve we don’t know about.

They must have figured if Tom is strong enough to get married over the weekend he should be well enough for the team.

I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT!!! Incredible. It's especially cruddy when you think how Cassle lost his dad this past season and still put up numbers even Brady never reached in his first year. That has got to be the dumbest move I have ever heard of. Brady is about three quarters retired now. He has no incentive to play like Cassle can. I'm absolutely beside myself. Excuse me while I go kick a cat...

Wow I can't believe the paranoia. We've known for months that the Pats were gonna franchise and trade Cassel. This is no surprise to anyone that follows the Pats. Remember that Cassel put up numbers in a system that has been established for many seasons. A system Brady helped build. Cassels team in his first season is 10 times better than Brady's first season. I'll start it by saying let's see Cassels numbers in KC and compare them to his numbers last year. You don't have to be Nosterdamus to predict they'll be substantially lower. He'll never have the protection from the line he got in NE. For any one interested WEEI in Boston is now streaming live on the internet. They're the flagship station of all the New England sports teams. #1 rated sports radio in the US. JP's right "In Bill we trust" He's never let us down yet.
