Ex-Neighbor gets car stolen with baby inside.

Talking about the girl that got her hair on fire by putting gasoline on it made me think about something that just happened a few weeks ago to someone I know. My ex-neighbor and his wife came home from the grocery store and park in their driveway. Well they got out of the car and started putting away the groceries all the while leaving the keys in the car and his little baby in the car. (why leave your kids in the car) Well when they were inside the house someone stole their car with the baby inside. Well they called the cops and the other neighbor took him to look for the car. After driving around for a while they found the car about two blocks from the house in the middle of the street still running with the baby inside. God was on their side. You hear too many horror stories about these things. Groceries can always wait your children always come first.

Wow, that's amazing. My son is 10 and I still wont leave him in the car, even with it locked and without the keys in it. There are just too many sick people out there.

I know I don't even like for my kids to go outside unless I am out there. It is crazy. Too many sick people out there.

In some states its illegal to leave a kid under 12 in a car alone. Me and my son stopped at a store a couple years ago,had to grab something real quick. We went in the store, but left our dog in the vehicle. It wasn't hot outside and i left the windows cracked. We were in the store less than ten minutes and when i headed back to my van there was a cop waiting for me.He said someone had heard the dog barking and called it in.He looked at the dog, seen he was fine.He said there was no law against leaving a dog in a car for a short time, but pointing at my son,he said Now if you would have left him in the car, thats a different story.Thats when he told me about a new law about leaving anyone under 12 in a car alone.

Here in Florida you can't leave any animal in a car,it's an automatic ticket

You should be able to leave your kid in the car for a few moments; it's sad that you can't do something as normal and comfortable as taking in a few bags from your car, on your property, into your own house without worry. You can't foresee every problem.

Toys2Cool. It wasn't me it was my ex-neighbor. I would never leave my kids in the car. I am too over protective.

It's illegal to leave kids in cars here too. I guess you never know what might happen, and though you plan to be gone for only a few minutes, it could turn into a lot longer.

As a parent, your job is to do exactly that.

Too true, I'd say. I was thinking the same thing in the gasoline/head lice thread.
