    Man on Wire documentary

I just rented Man on Wire...an amazing documentary that just won the Oscar for Best Documentary.

It's about French tight-rope-walker, Philippe Petit, who went on a quest to walk from one Twin Tower to the other...a truly amazing feat back in 1974.

It's unbelievable what he did...a quarter-mile up in the air...he walked back and forth for 45 minutes. When the police arrived at the roof...he smiled, turned around...and walk the cable eight times, while smiling at the cops, unreal. He even sat and laid on his back. The cops even said he actually jumped to the point where both his feet left the cable...damn.

The guy (and his team) were truly amazing...

This is the only film at Rotten Tomatoes that has gotten a perfect 100% positive rating.

    Go rent it now.

I couldn't watch him do that without thinking of all the people who jumped out of the WTC during 9,11.

This film gives a very sweet homage to the Towers...at the time...they were not embraced by people...they thought of them as giant ugly souless things...but after the walk by Petite...it gave the Towers an endearing element...soon after that...people starting loving the Towers.

The tragedy of 9/11 should not let you forget the positive things that the Tower stood for before...the wire-walk for one thing.

Oh, I don't forget positive things about the Towers.

I've been up in them 7 different times including the open roof.

            Good memories

It's just a guy on a tightrope walking from one to the other makes me think of all them people jumping

I'm reading about this guy in my newspaper today. He says he was arrested by the cops and had his head bashed against a wall as he was dragged down the stairs. He said his encounter with the cops was far more dangerous than any of the time he spent on the wire.

"What were you DOING out there on that wire???? Doing that, I think
you should have your head examined!"
                    BAM!*

*insert sound of head being bashed against wall

Anybody remember George Willig aka "spiderman" ?

He climbed up the WTC around '77-'78-ish

It was all over the local news back then.
