I feel sorry for her, but what did she expect? Gas + fire = disaster

Well I would think that she won't have to ever worry about getting lice again. Saying is I don't think she would be able to grow any back depending on how bad her head was burnt.

What struck me the most about bgrimm's original post was the phrase
"Some things never surprise me..." an interesting spin on
the ol' "Never cease(s) to amaze me..." standard???
"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris Mannix

I often feel this, especially in the last few months or so, but I end up restraining myself from commenting.

But I gotta say. It amazes and saddens me the lack of compassion I see here sometimes. This is a fellow human being who has badly injured herself. It was not an act of malice towards another. It was not done for any other reason than to solve a problem she was having.

Was it misguided? Of course. Foolish even? Sure. What does that matter? People make mistakes and do foolish things at times. Especially young people. Maybe someone had told her that doing what she did was a viable solution.

The bottom line is the lack of empathy towards another human being who is obviously suffering is sickening. Because these stories are distant or they don't know the individuals people seem to be very removed from the horror of it. What if this was your sister or your daughter?

This is not the first time I have witnessed this here and I think it is awful.

My first reaction to "Natural selection at its finest" was "what an a$$hole." Who knows what led the girl to use gasoline. Maybe she was just desperate to get the lice out of her hair. Many people have underestimated the dangers of fumes, and doing so doesn't mean they deserve to suffer so horribly or be removed from the gene pool. I've never met this girl, but I am comfortable saying there are plenty of geniuses in the world who deserve to suffer before her.

Exchanges like this make me realize that the world is full of judgmental pr!cks, and sadly I am one of them sometimes.

I apologize...I didn't mean to say natural selection at its finest...I meant to say natural selection at its most spectacular.

I don't expect you to agree Hector now that I've seen your stance,
but I'm surprised you're so easily dismissive here...

---people make bad judgements with no malicious intent-------sometimes with horrid consequences.

They are educated (or not educated) to think that way----and I don't
blame them for that---I have compassion for them....they certainly blanked
on some vital info that could have saved themselves and their loved ones
                        from so much grief.

Now, if one's stupidity causes one to hurt someone ELSE than themselves, believe me--- I think they should be held accountable---the world shouldn't suffer for the lack of one's education or otherwise.

But, man, when people hurt only themselves by accident---by a
foolish mistake, I just can't be "cold" when there's no real reason to be.

Clearly, what you would or would not have done at some point in your life is the standard of measurement as to whether a fellow human being deserves 1) compassion or 2) ridicule.

                                You are right.

I'm just a bad boy sometimes.

I'm sure if I saw the girl in person...I would react differently...but online it comes across as almost...well...not too smart on her part...and ammunition for me.
