    Brian---that's a freakin' great pic!

(Two "great ones" in one classic SNL moment!)

Yeah , It's eerily feeling like Andy Kaufman. LOL. I miss that whacko. He was nuts.

        I always HATED Andy Kaufman.

I never thought he was funny and still can't understand why people like him so much.

I was one of the many who voted to ban him from SNL forever

I hope he is not following in his dead brother's footsteps. He seemed like he might be on something.

Personally---I would call Andy much more "smart" and "creative" than "funny".

And Kaufman himself? He HATED when people thought of him as "funny" or "a comedian". He was ...ahem..."above that".

You either got what he was doing----or didn't.

Still...I got what he was doing and only became a fan out of curiosity
---not out of admiration---which I guess is better than nothing.

            Because he wasn't a garden-variety comedian----and because
I don't have much tolerance for pranksters or avant garde ideas---
I'm pretty much a "minor" Andy Kaufman fan.

That would be a real shame. He is talented as was River. I just hope he is not going down that road.

There's isn't very many things in the world that would make me go mad with anger but the Mighty Mouse sketch is one of them.

It just makes me sooo mad I want to shoot the TV.

I'm not ashamed to admit, Andy Kaufman SUCKED ---- i'm not glad he's dead --- but I am thankful for never having to see him again.

Letterman Falls for the Joaquin Sideshow - TMZ.com

We've been on to Joaquin's scam for weeks now -- no doubt he's shooting a mockumentary with Casey Affleck ... pretending he's quitting acting to become a rap star -- even though his singing sucks -- and showing how the media will fall for it.

Andy Kaufman COURTED enemies in his audience and played with "sucking"
constantly---thank god I wasn't old enough to be victim of his "game"
while he was alive (what a nuisance ala Joaquin)---still...I'm certainly
intrigued by him in his death.

I don't like watching him perform...but I like reading about his bizarre approach to entertainment and celebrity.

Particularly his "vacation" from being the one that had to "pay the bills"
as a somewhat giving performer in that alter-ego "Tony Clifton"
whose only job was indeed "to suck" (and anger people).

It sounds like (according to Scott's post) that Joquain is INDEED ripping off Andy's schtick here.

                      I'm not interested.

                      Or am I?

The only thing about the scam theory is it's wildly irresponsible when he's suppossed to be promoting this movie with Paltrow...

Do you think there would be more or less talk about Phoenix (and the movie) if he went on Letterman, smiled, sipped his coffee, and politely introduced the clip?

You notice how much Dave went out of his way to heap praise on the flick. That was probably part of the "deal"...

I'd be surprised if a Paltrow/Pheonix movie EVER got overly-panned---
                            but that just my instinct.
