I haven't followed the Pete Rose thing for a long time but I thought that there was suspicion that he bet on baseball games that he played in and potentially fixed games.

I'm not sure if that issue or debate was ever resolved once and for all.

As far as the steroids go...I don't know the answer related to Cooperstown. If someone jacked up on roids is batting against a pitcher who is jacked up on roids...is there really any unfair either way? I don't know the answer to that.

I think, at this point, you either have to vote everyone whose numbers are HOF caliber from this generation in or vote nobody from this era in. Nobody will ever know for sure who did or didn't take roids.

Pete admitted to betting on games but he said not on Reds Games. As for fixing games i never heard or read about that.

Pete was addicted to Gambling something I'm sure everyone who knew him was aware of. I'm sure the Reds management knew of his addiction.

Pete's mistake was staying in baseball and managing he should have left the game. His numbers are amazing and he was an awesome player no one hustled like him. Every time the Reds were in town to Play the Mets i got to see him.

I'm sorry i think it's unfair that Guys like A-Rod,Clemens,Bonds,Maguire all someday have a shot at cooperstown and it's obvious they all cheated while in the game. Pete got caught after his career was over for gambling not for taking steroids.

Gambling is an addiction that has to be treated.
Steroids is a choice an Athlete makes to cheat to advance his career.

You will know down the Road when you see players die unexpectedly of heart attacks and Cancer. Lyle Alzado one of the meanest SOB to play the game of football died of a brain tumor from steroid use. he went from a huge man to being totally wasted away.

I meant to say that the suspicion was that he placed bets on Reds games and by doing that potentially tampered with the outcome of those games.

I really haven't kept up with the story and don't know if he was able to show what games he did and didn't gamble on but agree the guy was an awesome player. I do think at some point, they will reconsider and let the guy in but it may not happen while he's alive.

The Hall of Fame is a museum, not Valhalla. They should put in people who made a major impact on the game--Good or ill. Besides, it'll be nice to have a place to take the kids to show them what baseball was before it destroyed itself and was swept in the ashbin of history.

Is there anything in this country that isn't completely corrupt and fraudulent?

Now Selig want to punish him. Kind of late isn't it? And from what they are saying, four other ball players are the ones who ratted A-Rod out to SI.
