I have always loved dressing up like Superheroes

For pretend play in the house and in the back yard my brother, sisters and I would don hero costumes and fight crime.

For Halloween I was almost always a Superhero.

I would piece together costumes out of existing clothing and paper.

I wanted a more professional look - so I asked my Gramma to make me a real Aquaman Suit. She did it for my 8th or 9th birthday -I think 9th.
She passed away a couple weeks ago (she was almost 91, made her peace and was ready) and my cousin found this photo for me.

She used some pics as reference but got the fins on upside down. She went with a really shiny shirt and puffy sticker (to ID the character).

I wore the daylights out of it.

The pants were oversized and stretchy so as a sophmore in high school I was able to givew them their final farewell at the district swim meet wearing them for warm ups.

Not much has changed for me through the years
1999 (the underwear were light grey so I primitively "photo shopped" them black)

2008 basically the same costume - I substituted my Army boots for the Green Socks over shoes. I drew scales on the shirt. Underwear dyed darker. -in this pic I am not wearing the fins but I put them on later

Cool! Always fun to see that I'm not the only one who still loves to dress up.
Hey! Where's the waiter with the water for my daughter?

Extremely cool costumes Brue. I was afraid at first you'd be in a Wonder Women outfit Grandmas always come through! She must have been a sweet lady!

Very nice, Brue! You look like a living MEGO! Oddly enough, you look your most "fit" in the latest pic. The hand-drawn scales are impressive, too, and that belt is so "bling" it MUST belong to the Prince of Atlantis.

I have childhood dress-up stories too. When I was little I used to dress up as Batman, using a gray T-shirt, my sister's blue gymnastic tights, a blue towel for a cape, and a black rubber bat suspended around my neck as the bat symbol! Sometimes I'd wear a half-mask with the comic-book style face on the front, but those things got sweaty and the elastic string always got caught in my hair, so most of the time I went with my secret identity exposed...!

The best part is that I would white underwear over the tights. You'd think my Mom would have dyed them black, but I think she thought it was funny. The neighbors thought I was a nut. I was only 6, what's a kid gonna do?? Batman clearly wore underwear over his tights, and since all I had were my BVDs, that's what I put on.

You have the right physique to dress like that.

About the only superheroes I could dress as would be The Thing, Juggernaut, and The Kingpin.

When I was a kid, my ballet leotard was basically a red bathing suit. I would wear blue shorts and wristbands with it and pretend to be Wonder Woman.

I'd wear my Wonder Woman swimsuit sometimes and pretend to be Wonder Woman. I also tried to invent my own superhero "Daring Kid" to go along w/ Electra Woman and Dyna Girl. I fashioned my own "Electra-Comp" outta some stuff I had around the house, and since I was always in my PJs while watching Electra Woman on Saturday mornings, I pretended my Dr. Dentons was my superhero suit.

Thanks for the comments on the costumes.

I love hearing the other kid superhero adventures.

I never dressed up as a superhero as a kid...but I would practice my ape walk.
