There was no bigger fan of LOST than me for it's first few seasons. I loved all of the "out there" science elements like the islands magnetism, the recurring numbers and the smoke creature all because the shows producers had said all along that everyting will have a logical explanation as it plays out.
To me, the fun of it was wondering how they were going to reconcile all of this seemingly weird stuff with logical explanations. But I trusted the producers and enjoyed the ride.
Last seasons episode "The Constant" was the shark jumping moment for me. That was when they went full-tilt sci-fi and abandoned their previous promises to keep it grounded. Not that I don't like sci-fi... love it!... but this show was succeeding for me because of it's apparent adherance to real-world cause and effect and at least "quasi-science". Now it's like a tv adaptation of Back To The Future.
It sounds like I hate the show now but I don't. It's still my number one show to catch every week and since I have watched since day one, I'm pretty invested. But as good as it still is, I still feel like I was misled. Personally, I think the writers and producers wrote themselves into a corner on some things and the time-jumping element was the only way to find a way out for them. Someone mentioned it before and I agree, that's cheating.
Once you start going back and forth in time, it's impossible to maintain the same sense of finality as before. Nothing done is really "done". No one dead is really "dead". Anything can be fixed later and yes, you get a head-ache trying to keep up with it.
I love you LOST but you cheated on me. It will take a while now for me to trust you again.Comment

I tried to like the show, but I hated how they never explained things, but kept piling it on. Shows like this work best when every episode has some sort of resolution; even if it's a weird character bit that has nothing to do with anything. Gives it a feel of actually progressing. I kinda felt like I was watching a bunch of random stuff happen and a slew of idiots overreact. Then they all hid from feet....
Didn't like the characters either. As the story went on it seemed like nobody had any traits that didn't relate directly to the... we'll say plot. And then they'd change as required.

you guys are all crazy. this show is great. I love the serial aspect of it and that questions are slowly answered. You know if you go back and rewatch the seasons consecutively, you see that there were clues for things revealed later.
As far as the time travel being a cheat, i will hold judgement on that...Faraday keeps saying they cannot change anything in history because it already happened so it is unlikely they will bring back anyone who was already killed off.....excepting of course when they reappear as ghosts, in flashbacks, or if they jump to a point in time before the person died.Comment

Hey Hector,
I know that some folks think that you just post on any ol' thread so you can get your post count up.
But even though you don't like the show LOST, I think that your posts are always funny. I mean it.
Don't ever be discouraged from posting on a thread that you have no interest in, despite what others may say.Comment
