Bigfoot and Wildboy - The Best Show You Never Saw

I missed this amazing series. It actually ran for almost three years as part of the Krofft Supershow then on its own.

I saw it! It was one of my fave kids shows back then, and I had a mad crush on Joseph Butcher (Wildboy). I have several eps on tape and love to play them on Saturday mornings!

For some very weird reason KROFTT shows fell pretty oddly into "NEVER saw
that series" and "LOVED that series, and saw it a lot"

I NEEEEVVVER saw Bigfoot and Wildboy----and to add to that, I never saw
Far Out Space Nuts, Lidsville or others that the names are escaping me right
        now---

I saw quite a few others-----ones that are very poipular to this day---

but, here's the oddest thing----the one that was my favorite back then
        ONLY lasted one season-----------Dr. Shrinker

so even though, I totally missed out on shows that lasted multiple seasons,
Dr. Shrinker still remains firmly etched in my memory as a favorite

I don't know why I loved that show so much----just did
"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris Mannix

Yes! I loved Bigfoot and Wildboy. The opening sequence where Bigfoot is running and there is a speedometer in the background showing how fast he is going will always be stuck in my mind.

I remember it. I watched it sometimes. I was always dissapointed because I felt the Bigfoot should look more animal than man.

I was very young 2 or 3 when I would watch it. I had forgot all about this show until my sister bought the Sid and Marty 3 VHS tape set 7 or 8 years ago. After seeing it again it brought back tons of memories.

One thing that shocked me was I loved Wonder Bug as a kid, but after seeing it on that 3 tape set ... I found it to be a big let down, where Bigfoot and Wildboy still seems like a pretty cool show.

I'm a major 70s Krofft fan. I have episodes of most of the shows, had the pleasure of meeting Johnny Whitaker (Sigmund) and Chuck McCann (Far Out Space Nuts and writer for many Krofft shows), I have records, photos, iron-ons and I even made a Kaptain Kool & The Kongs t-shirt from a photo I have. Those shows truly capture the magic of Saturday morning in the 70s, and I am an eternal fan.

Never missed it, it was a terrific mix of SMDM, Lucan and In Search of.

I vividly remember when it came back as it's own series.

Oh and Joseph Butcher was apparently quite the teen hearthrob as evidenced by this blog...

Thanks for the link, Brain. I just left a response.

The best thing about Bigfoot and Wildboy is Bigfoot's dialogue:
                        "Wildboy...kahbahbahlah!"

Sid and Marty were geniuses at what they did. The shows were so far off base for the time. Lidsville was great. PuffNStuff, Witchiepoo. Sigmund the Sea Monster. Would love to see these shows brought back through syndication to see how today's kids would respond to them.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

I'm not so sure they'd do too well. I have the Pufnstuff series on VHS and my kids thought it was ok but a little dull...meanwhile I'm watching it thinking wow, I remember that show.

I definitely remember Bigfoot and Wildboy...that was part of the Krofft Supershow I think along with Electra Woman and Dinah Girl, Dr. Shrinker, Wonder Bug.

Then the regular shows H.R. Pufnstuff, Lidsville, Sigmund and the Seamonsters, the Bugaloos, Land of the Lost, I'm sure there are more.

There was a short lived Krofft Amusement park in Ohio I think. I have a Pufnstuf pennant from the now defunct park and items show up on EBAY every now and then.

Well, my kids have had the opposite response, they love Krofft! So far they have seen Sigmund, PufNStuff and the Bugaloos. The Bugaloos seem to do better w/ the girls, though. But of course, my class knows I'm retro, so they expect this sort of thing from me.
