That is one CREEPY looking Hamburgler! I guess we forget that at one time he was a villain, but there he looks like he's a serial killer..well, hold on, all those burgers talk and sing, so I guess they're alive in some weird Sid & Marty Krofft way...and he is going to eat them..yeah, I guess Hamburgler is a serial killer. Ok, enjoy your meal, kids!

We didn't get to McDonalds too much when I was a kid..our closest resteraunt was Burger Chef.

I remember when BC put in a salad bar in the mid-70s, one of the first in the area, and everyone was afraid to use it because people thought the staff had to fill your plate. I just saw an episode of That '70s Show where the same thing happened, the dad complaining about having to go make his own salad "I could do that at home- I came to a resteraunt so you could make it for me!". My mom would go up then but come back with this tiny salad because she didn't want the people working there to think she was greedy.
Now you see people coming back from the salad bar with 2 or 3 plates full of stuff that they can barely carry.

My favorite was the Hamburgler doll, I still have mine -- missing the cape :(

I also like to get the glasses with the characters on them. Did they discontinue those do to something with the paint or is that an urban legend? I think I still have a few of those glasses around somewhere.

As others have said, a trip to McDonalds was a real treat for us. My biggest memory was that a large coke then is what a small coke is now.

I do have a Mayor McCheese puppet made of cloth with a plastic head from the 70's and did have some of the glasses but those are long gone.

My first memory of movie tie in was The Muppets Movie. I distinctly remember that McDonald's had glasses and I believe we had all of them and used them as everyday glassware.

I can't remember how much a Big Mac was but I distinctly remember that you could buy some fries for 25 cents.

I remember going to McD's before happy meals but can't recall how the premiums were handed out. Was it just if you were a kid you got something or was there some kind of kids meal then?
I know we had the glasses and I vaguely remember the puppets. What i do recall were these little colored rubber figures of McDonaldland characters. Maybe 2 inches tall or so. they were very squishy/rubbery. I always thought they were erasers but they weren't or at least they didn't work well as erasers. LOL
I remember it was so hard to not bite them. They felt cool between your teeth. LOL
I don't recall if these were in a Happy Meal or before that.
We went McD every Friday (almost) and if not McD's then we had Pizza Hut.
I remember my parents/grandparents didn't want to take my sister and me to eat at more expensive restaurants sometimes so they'd get us McD's and then they'd get something else. One time they made us take our McD's food into a Ponderosa or Bonanza restaurant while they ate there. That was so embarrassing!
I also remember my Mom always ordered a plain hamburger at McD's and they took FOREVER to do special orders like that. I recall them having to fill out some little slip of paper or something when she'd order like that. I hated the little onions on the hamburgers, too and I'd pick every one of them off before I'd eat it. LOL

Man, I remember getting those sticker sheets. Now that was from my youth. Thanks for posting that. I haven't thought about those in years.

I remember going to McD's was a treat and not something we did every week.

Yeah it was a few-and-far-between trip to McDonalds when I was a little kid and was more of a treat. We didn't have one close by. I think it had to be at least 10 miles away. But when we moved to AZ in '79 we lived with my Grandparents for awhile and they used to eat out a lot so we almost always got take out (pizza, McD's, etc) on Friday nights after that.

The last thing I got was the Batman glasses when Batman and Robin came out. My buddy and I drove around to all the McDonalds untill we could get all 4 in one night.

Yes! That is it. Man I could stare at that thing for hours when I was a kid (I speak in hyperbole) I thought that was as cool as artwork could get back then.
                          It's all good!

I loved going to McDonalds as a kid. I usually got one or two regular hamburgers (which cost 30 cents at the time), fries and cookies. I also loved the apple pies. Not the stupid baked ones they have now, but the really good FRIED ones. Man, I miss those apple pies, but you can still get the fried ones at some places, like at McDonalds in Japan. I completely pig out on those whenever I go, I wish it was possible to bring a bunch back home. They can also be found in few other different places, including some Walmart McDonalds, and oddly, at a Burger King in Mississauga, Ontario (at least they had them the last time I was there several years ago)

The only premiums I remember were those plastic hand puppets, I mostly just remember the food.

Once in a while I get a McD's craving, and stop for a burger and fries. They still taste good when I'm in the mood for it.

^^^^^ You reminded me of a promotion they had when I was a kid. The commercial stated you could get a hamburger, fries & a drink and get CHANGE back from a dollar!

Also when the Big Mac first came out I remember radio stations having contests to see who could sing the Big Mac song the fastest without missing any words and they would win some prize.
