Kentucky Fried Chicken was really good until the mid-80s, but since then it seems to have changed dramatically. I remember when I was pretty young back in the mid to late 70s, Kentucky Fried was really good and so were the sides. It was even pretty nice to sit in one and eat your meal. How times have changed.

Now that I think about it, it seemed to turn lousy when it became "KFC" instead of Kentucky Fried Chicken.
The one by me, I have no idea how they can remain open.
They never have any business whatsoever ...
I wonder if it's just a front for something illegalComment

I like my 75-year-old momma's chicken best. Very similar process as Hector's. Buttermilk makes all the difference.
I live in Northwest Arkansas, the home of Tysons. The city down the road from me, Springdale, is known as "Chickendale." During basketball games, students from rival schools often wear KFC buckets on their head to make fun of the Springdale kids.
But Springdale is the home of the AQ Chicken House, which has great chicken and ribs if you ever make to the Ozarks. Try the Chicken over the Coals. The Chicken is fried, then a special seasoning is added and it is crisped again over a coal fire. The crust is fantastic. This was Bill Clinton's favorite chicken when he taught law at the University of Arkansas in the 1970s. And you know that man knows his fried chicken.
As for the chains, I like Church's best. There are none in my area, but when I go back home to Memphis, they are everywhere.
Next would be Popeye's. I won't eat at KFC if I can avoid it. Sorry Col. Sanders, Too greasy.

I can't stomach KFC anymore either. When Albertson's grocery store, I used to like their deli's fried chicken. Merritt's is pretty good too. I do make a decent fried chicken too. Although I've never used buttermilk."Do you believe, you believe in magic?

Like Terry (madmarva) I like AQ Chickenhouse for chicken - the best I've ever eaten.
For chains, I like Popeyes...they have the BEST biscuits.Last edited by Megospidey; Jan 18, '09, 8:06 PM.Comment

Easy one for me..Chicken Delight. Aren't many left in the U.S. but I'm fortunate to have a couple still around here as well as one that used to be a CD but still uses the same recipe. A franchise dispute closed most of them down in the U.S. I remember there used to be on right in town when I was a kid and everyone loved to eat there. Several years ago I found the "used to be one" place and it all cam eflooding back. Befor emy current job moved I found one that delivered to that location. It became a once a week thing with my co-workers calling it "crack chicken".
Where we moved there's one but no delivery to our location. So every one in a while I'll pick it up and when I ask it's rare that I get less thna eight people that want to go in on it.
Anyhow remember their theme "Don't Cook Tonight Call Chicken Delight"?
They don't sell parts but I absolutely LOVE Chick-Fil-A. They just have sandwiches and nuggets but they are still fried. Only located in malls in my immediate vacinity that doesn't stop me from getting food there 3-4 times a week. If there was a stand-alone near me I'd probably get food every every day.
The other big place for chicken until Hardee's killed them (th eorginal version anyway) was Roy Rogers. Whenever we'd call for chicken at my house that was the place to go. Popeye's mild chicken is very similar.Comment
