    Those are funny.

The villains are not stupid, it's the writers who are stupid.

The movie had a scenario where Lex Luthor launched two intercontinental missiles going in opposite directions...so according to the writers...that would make it impossible for Superman to stop both of them in time.

            Right.

            In one corner...

The Russian Topol SS 27 is the fastest missile ever.

On a test flight from Kapustny to Balkash, the Topol got there in 24 minutes, it had to fly at a speed of three miles a second. That's 180 miles a minute or 10,800 miles an hour (Mach 13). If the reports were indeed true, the Topol RS 12 or the Topol SS 27, as it is known in military circles around the world, had to be the fastest thing man has ever seen. And if you will for a moment excuse the breathlessness, it also represented the pinnacle of modern missile technology. Until this test, the fastest thing known to man was the X43 A. A hypersonic, unmanned plane built by NASA. It flew at 10 times the speed of sound-almost 7,200 miles per hour.

            In the other corner...

Superman, speed of light, 670,616,629.3844 miles per hour, 186,282.397 0512 per second, the ability to circle Earth 8 times in one second.

The movie was inaccurate, the youtube video was right on the money.

The thing that troubled me the most though is that in that very same movie...you see Superman indeed flying at the speed of light trying to go back in time.

            Yes, writers are stupid.

...and for all that speed of Superman...you still have Batman groupies who for some ungodly reason, think his detective work and martial arts prowess, will somehow still beat the speed of lightning fast Superman, lol.

Yes, I had to go there, Batman fans.

So let's review this again in a nutshell...

                    Fastest missile ever:

                    3 miles per second

                    Superman:

                    186,282.397 0512 miles per second

Superman: 186,282.397 0512 miles per second

World record-holder Usain Bolt: 27 miles per hour in a short 100mm sprint

Now, don't tell me Batman runs faster than Usain Bolt, don't even go there, lol.

P.S. Yes, I went there again.

                        Hector -

I was a Superman fan before I was a Batman fan. I lost interest in Superman when the writers kept exercising "fuzzy" logic. Superman could only win or lose as the context of the situation called for...The difference between the two was always that Superman was brawn (strength and power) and Batman was brains. Batman was smarter than everyone. Of course, a fully, completely Superman would be kinda boring. I guess that explains Kryptonite and all its flavors. I just watched the Lester Superman II. I really wish someone would write a decent Superman movie...

                          Excellent post...and I agree.

You gotta make Superman vulnerable on some things or otherwise it would be the most boring thing on Earth.

But I gotta give the Bat fans a little incentive to fight back, lol.

I love both characters...so it's all in good fun.
