        I kinda like "shyster".
        That word has real character....

My favourite English word these days, and I hear it often on the BBC is "**** up", meaning "gone wrong".
Like: the remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still has really gone **** up...

It's not on the list but the one that makes me crack up is bollocks

In the US, it's just means mess up .. ie, you bolloxed it up..
It's even said on TV including an old episode of the Flintstones

In the UK it has a harsher meaning

            And my favourite saying:
He hangs around like a fart in a phone box.

Used for someone who just won't leave......

Blimey! Got me knickers in a twist. Bloody crumpets are stale.
Pip-pip, cheerio and all that sort of rot.

Which is why the Sex Pistols' debut album had a bit of controversy with it's title in the UK, but it didn't raise an eyebrow over here (on the contrary, it just confused the many people who were unfamiliar with the word).

On the other hand, use of the "c-word" would silence a room in mixed company over here, while in the UK it's used more commonly (and not necessarily just in a bad way, it has more connotations). Oh, and "fanny" means something very different over there, trust me.
