Like most kids, it was always the small details that interested me the most. This held true even during Christmas when I was growing up. Everything from small books to something as simple as a candy jar or erasers. All of these are more or less antiques these days, so I keep them in my collector room to assure they are properly preserved. Just wondering if anyone else has held on to or recollected old Christmas artifacts. Here are a couple of shots:

I loved reading when I was small so it comes as no surprise that many of these books I hold very dear. The first edition of a Charlie Brown Christmas was something I read every year as was my giant Frosty illustrated book, which they still sell today (but in a much smaller size). The book to the left was a record book combo I picked up at a book fair when I was in elementary school in '71 (yeah, I'm old). That book pretty much became my holiday bible for many years after. These days I play it for my youngsters so they can enjoy it as well - Yep, I still have a turn table to play it on. Of course I also had the erasers they sold in school and the big pencil with Santa's head on it. Anyone who grew up in he 70's probably owned 30 of those at any given time. And then there were the Santa figures that held little candies in them and the puppets that were sold right next to them. Of course who can forget the Santa lapel pins with the light up noses? Why they still don't sell those today is something of a mystery to me.

I remember my dad use to bring this Santa jar home every Christmas for many years in the early 70's. If memory serves, he usually picked them up at Roses or Kmart stores. They were filled with candy which seldom lasted the week between myself and my two brothers.
