I've never seen snow falling except on tv. My sister keeps telling me to come visit in the dead of winter, but no thanks...I'm a wuss. I wish I could be in the tropics, but the Bay Area is where we settled down.

You mean that was the first time you've been in snow? Ever?

You are only a 3 1/2 hour drive away from Lake Tahoe and Squaw Valley.

I go there at least once a year...I'm heading there in January, beautiful country, and Lake Tahoe is spectacular.

I used to ski a bit...but now it's kinda difficult for me...but I still love it there...I mainly hang out and enjoy the scenery...and the drinking...and a tad of gambling too...lol.

I think you'll love it...it would be a very nice weekend gateway for you and your family.

I guess we just assume everyone has the same experiences as ourselves.
Anyhoo Damian, a couple of helpful snow hints:
            1) Don't eat it if it's yellow
            2) Don't stick your tongue on an icy flag pole

That looks beautiful, Hector. I promised my kids I would take them while there was still snow on the ground. My husband said have fun, which meant he didn't want to come. So, I guess I will have fun with the boys!!

I grew up in California and knew MANY people who had never seen snow!

Living in Kansas I have met people who have never seen an ocean!

The moral of the story? There are people out there who don't travel much!

It's -10 here right now. 7:24am with a projected high of 9 deg. Yesterday it didn't get above -2. It sucks.

DUDE!!! I live in Lousiville but my childhood friend of some 30 years invites me up to Chicago every year. Me and the wife usually stay there a few days and then we take off for colorado and ski for several days. You don't know what your missing! Skiing on a mountain slope is as close to being at one with nature as I think you can ever get. We use to have a condo on Siesta Key in Florida (Sarasota). Loved it down there too. The beach was just like flour and you could wade out in the water some 25 to 30 yards before hitting waste deep water.
