You're saying these are the new HOT TOYS figures? Not quite sure why they're placing a TV series Captain in there, but being that cool let's that slide...

I hope that they are even a "little step up" from the Hasbro figures... Those Hasbro figures are some of the worst figures out there... Just about anything has to be a step up from them...

I can't wait to see the General's face. From the little photo that they put up, he looks like the way he needs to be. And yes, even the TV series ape is there, but even he looks good from what I can see. These new apes, if this is how Hot Toys is going to manufacture them for the general public, are so yummilicious. I was not expecting to buy General Ursus, but if he looks this good, I'm going to have to dig deep for serious chimpchange.

Yes, Hasbro apes are very hideous indeed. These apes if that's what Hot Toys are going to churn out, are a league of their own.

Mike do you think the Hot Toys General Ursus chest armor is long enough? Sideshow's was too short. And, this General Ursus looks like he's got a GREAT helmet with wonderful havelock.

          Jessica,

To answer you, no the Ursus chest armor isn't long enough... That and the fact that they also forgot to have it "rounded" on the bottom... They need to do some reworking on it... Sideshow's was a little shorter than it should be, but it is more accurate in style than the one in the photo above...

You're right about the helmet though: It is quite an improvement over Sideshow's...

I have to correct myself... After looking closer at the new pictures you posted, I can see, especially on the "close up" shot of Ursus, it looks like they did indeed "round it" in the bottom...

Mike, it looks like more than four of those little brackets though on the bottom portion of his armor...but his expression looks like they have knocked him out of the park.

It might be in the low hundreds if you get it on pre-order...I'm not sure yet. I'll let you know.

Wow, that Ursus looks fantastic, it buries the Sideshow version. And they have rooted hair too? I usually don't spring that much cash for modern toys but might make an exception with this one.

The apes look real good. Hot Toys is one of my favorite manufacturers.
Whoever posted the actors likeness bit earlier was correct. Sometimes the toy company has the right to the character, but not the actor who played said character. Kane from Alien comes to mind. (Although HT did the portrait for Kane as an actor who was originally scheduled for the part but was replaced by Hunt; which is actually pretty cool in an ubergeek sort of way.)

The Iron man setups HT has done are off the map, as is the Two Face they recently put up for the Dark Knight film.

If the apes come close to these recent releases, they will be outstanding. From what I have seen, the General smacks Sideshow's version right off of his horse and stomps soundly on his ugly plastic head.

I might also point out that HT is the company that co-created Sideshows new 1:6 bodies.

The preorders are up on ebay. It says it ships within 30 days and the lowest price I could find is about $170 shipped. There are alot of pictures up. The General looks perfect. The soldier looks cool but theres something about the head thats not doing it for me.

It's the missing widow's peak and the odd-looking placement of too much teeth I think.
