    Whole Ike fiasco

I'm in the process of getting my house finished and my mortgage company has the money that the insurance company paid us. I have had the roof completed and have been trying since then to get the mortgage company to release the funds. The roof guy ( Whom I owe $5,220) wants his money now. I told him I'd give him $1,000 tomorrow but that I have to wait for my mortgage company to release the funds. He is getting annoying, threatening to sue me for the rest. I have called my mortgage company at least 30 times in the past month and hear the same crap. "We will be sending you a check in 5-7 business days" is what I hear EVERY time I call. My wife is a wreck because of the this situation. I am at my wits end here. I fear that once the inside of my house is finished I'll have the same problem with getting the money to pay them. Anyone have any suggestions on how I can get this resolved? I don't know what to do any more.

Call the bank, get a 0% (or very low interest) disaster relief loan (SBA loan).

The insurance co. won't just make the checks out to you and the contractors jointly. Ours did that after the damn mortgage co. (WaMu no wonder they are gone!!) just deposited the money in our account and wouldn't release it to us.

Hey that really sucks. I will be crossing my fingers for you. It's so unfair after what you have already been through. I hate insurance companies.
