Need an Artist Teacher, Professional, or Anyone's Critique

This post is not to brag (OK, maybe a little) about this picture my soon to be 5 year old daughter drew this evening. She titled it "Giraffe Turns on Light to See The Snow Outside" (she saw her first snow today).

I know there are quite a few professional artists and maybe a couple art teachers that are members here. I think it is pretty advanced for her age, but my opinion maybe alittle bias.

I see it as a little Picasso meets Clementine Hunter.

Tell me what you think. I know its cute, darling, etc. I am wondering if it is advanced, etc.

This is not directed at you daughter's drawing...but this thread did remind me of Maddox's take on kids' art works...

    ***WARNING...Maddox has colorful language***

        That is funny!!!!

I mentioned Clementine Hunter in the first post. If you don't know who she is, her art work is not much better than this one or any inthe link you posted, and her stuff sells for 10's of 1000's of dollars. She was from Louisiana and never professionally trained (as you can see):

That Maddox guy is going to hell...but he is funny nevertheless, lol.

Your daughter did a fantastic drawing though...so don't mind Maddox.

Love the folk art there. You should go to House of Blues somewhere, the walls are covered with the stuff. I walked all around the place looking at the art whild waiting for our meals. Even found some Howard Finster stuff. He's a reverend from Georgia and even ended up as cover art for Talking Heads and REM albums.

There are two things I will find in my garage sale adventures, one is a Newcomb College piece of pottery and he other is a Clementine Hunter painting.

They both are native to south Louisiana and use to be common finds in garage sales back in the 60's and 70's.

Maybe thats what it actually is, a political statement!!!

A fist held high in the air and holding an olive branch, all while looking at the turmoil of the world through a window of "All Knowing"!!!

My opinion is that your daughter is creatively advanced and has a lot of potential.

It's really hard to tell at this age. When my son was 4, his drawings were comparable. Now he's 14 and his drawings are amazing. He has won a lot of awards at school and is interested in graphic design.
