"Wait till they get a load of me" - Ho Ho Ho

Tonight was "Santa's Shop" at my sons elementary school. The kids go and buy little trinkets for a buck each to give as christmas presents. They also have an opportunity to get their picture taken with Santa. Normally the principal plays Santa, but he had a Board meeting tonight that came up at the last minute so somehow I got roped into stepping in.

Thought some might get a kick out of it.



Me and my son, who of course knows it was me behind the beard. The ironic part is for years I was large enough to play Santa, and the year I drop 50 pounds is the year I get asked to play the jolly fat man. Had to strap on two pillows!

It's weird. I remember being the kid who stood in line to see Santa, now I'm Santa. It was bizarre watching the kindergarten kids come up. Some in total terror and some with total joy. Some so shy they couldn't speak, others with a list that would choke a horse. One kid wanted an Apple laptop computer.

It was kind of a kick really. If you've never played Santa, give it a go if the opportunity presents itself. I admit though, I had terrible stage fright before making the grand entrance. I wasn't sure I had it in me to bellow out HO HO HO! After that it was a breeze.

I did the whole Santa thing about 7 years ago and you are right it was awesome.We lived in an apartment then and I was going around to a few of the kids that we knew next thing you know I went to the whole apartment block...LOL.
Good for you Dave it looks like you had fun.Not often you get to take a pic with your kid while dressed as Santa...Enjoy the memories they will last forever.

I was told there were boots for the suit! When I got there, there was only spats and it was too late to go back home and get something black to wear. Actually, I was kind of upset about that. I was worried about accuracy.
