    >I was making a joke about Ken.

I wasn't. What DOES that dude DO.....?

    >I'm surprised they are so popular. But then again so was Pokemon, and they threw me.

You're just getting old. Happens to all of us.

Well.... maybe not ME; but you get the idea.

    >(count how many times "Skank" has been used in this thread!)

....and chug a beer each time! WOOOOOO!!!!!!

    >It won't be going on sale anytime soon.

No, but I bet it WILL be going on ebay. If you're curious what's gonna be the big collector's thing 20 years from now I think we just might have a winner.

LadyZod---one thing may be that we differ on what the exact
definition of the word "skank" actually is...but I'm okay NOT
        to go there

              Yep.
Ken Never Has a Job either,.. He just Show's up in a Tux,.. or some Beach Clothes, a Biker, a Greaser, & Even Superman. One Dude with No Job, & 6 Different Chicks to go visit with & Play "House" .

Ken Doesn't even Have a Car.

Hell I bet all the Kids are his too,.. Barbie Doesn't care though,.. She's Rich & Pays for Everything.

That Would be cool,.. to Be Ken.

Naw,.. After giving it some thought,.. Ken is no Pimp. He's a Mooch that has Fathered endless Children with no means to provide for them .

              G.I.Joe ,.. Now that a Man.
Barbie wouldn't even Know what to do with a Kung-FU Grip.

The Queen of Toyland returns to her Throne! but really Barbie sales have been up lately and Bratz down. One reason Mattel makes the high school musical dolls and are sold side by side with Barbie giving her a boost.

I agree that Bratz idea was owned by Mattel and the dolls should be stopped from being made if Mattel wants it that way. I have no issue with the doll, at times I've found them a bit much but have bought some of the more tame dolls for my nieces who like them but agree why do girls toys get some much attention but boy toys are ok? I see a double standard there.

They could Bratz as Barbie doll line or separate doll lone and they may. I bet they will but they may just put more into their 50 year brand name, Barbie. 50 years and counting can't beat that.

                  Long Live the Queen.

I think that subconsciously some sensitive men look at the "perfect" girl dolls
                    and think:
"Hey that's kinda alluring...wait, I don't want my daughter to pick up on that,
emulate that... and be alluring to men!" (Heaven forbid!)
While I also think that subconsciously some sensitive women look at the "perfect" girl dolls and think:
"Hey, that's kind of alluring...I don't want to have to compete with that!"
...so, this is how many (not all) complaints arise.

                    People...men OR women...just don't look at "male" dolls/action figures
with the same kind of primal reaction.

^^^ I guess the Bratz are alluring if you are into giant headed stick bodied women.

If they weren't---then I don't see why people would get all wound up
in the first place about their "skankyness"....their "sexuality" wouldn't be so
apparent as to get so protective of children's innocence.

Hey, I just call 'em as I see 'em.

And, by the way, I was adressing jemboy's thought's on "girl dolls" in general..
Bratz.... and Barbies too. As Don has pointed out---Barbie has gone under
simillar scrutiny---the difference is these days Bratz have been getting more
                        attention in that area.

HAW! I think we have the plot for the next pack-in DVD.

                          >"Hey that's kinda alluring...wait, I don't want my daughter to pick up on that,
emulate that... and be alluring to men!" (Heaven forbid!)

I think you're right; but I think this is kind of how the hardcore complainants see it. I suspect most people don't get this into it. But I had a friend explain to me that this is how she saw Barbie once she got older.

I DO find it odd that this sort of thinking isn't applied to boy toys. You want "negative body image" and "unrealistic expectations" have a look at Conan. Dude runs around all winter in boots and furry underwear....

....not that I"m SUGGESTING that. One of the nice things about being a boy is that I didn't have to grow up being told how I was actually being opresssed by the things I enjoyed. (Instead I was constantly hammered with how they were gonna make me a satanic mass murderer. At least that's a more proactive malady....)

                          >They could Bratz as Barbie doll line or separate doll lone and they may.

I'd expect it. There's enough of a name there that they'd probably see value in co-opting it.

                          Don C.

I do believe that Mattel had the right to do this, as per their contractual agreements with their employees, I don't dispute that. But from all the things I've read and heard about Mattel over the years, I don't hold them in very high regard, I think they're a bit tyrannical and crazy, lol. This is the same company who sued a small town clothes store because they were named Barbie's.....even though the woman who owned the shop was named Barbie, her actual name That sort of stuff is just taking it too far, IMO.

I realise that many (if not most) other companies probably aren't much better but Mattel just gives me a bad vibe.
