    70's School "Physical" talk

    I just had a 70's flashback

I'm not sure if this was just a Jersey thing, but about every second year I was in elementary school we used to have the dreaded "Physical".

This was not for sports or anything.

They'd let you know you were going to have one about 2 weeks in advance so you had plenty of time to worry about it

    Here's the scenario.

The day of the "Physical", you and 7-ish of your classmates marched yourselves down to the school nurse.

The nurse then told you all to disrobe to your shorts.
You then put on a "gown" and wait in line.

One at a time you go in this room with the school nurse and a visiting nurse... could be a doctor, I dunno.
Regardless, she was a female too.

They both probe you over ...
Then the visiting nurse puts her hand down your shorts to "check your tissues"
    She literally fondles your nuts

When finished, you get dressed and go back to class --- So you can tell the next batch of schoolchums what to expect

    Today,
I'd say that whole experience would make my day and i'd even being looking up to it

But back then being 7 - 12-sh, it was quite embarrassing.

    Just another 70's school flashback

They did for at least 5 or 6 years to the whole school.

We all told our parents, and none of them ever questioned it.

Maybe it was a Jersey thing

              Hmmmm....

I never had that done when I ws a kid, so maybe by then it was phased out. I DID read a lot of stories that had scenes like this, written back in the 70's. (Like "Superfudge.") So maybe it was just on it's way out during the late 60's/early 70's?

We had that as well, but only for a couple of years, then it was only for the sports physicals. Now you have to go to your own doctor and bring the confirmation note to the school. My buddy's little brother peed on the doctor during the test and couldn't stop. Funny as hell. Definately a $10,000.00 World's funniest winner if I had it on video. He was younger than us but awesome at sports so he was with us getting tested for the first time and when the doc squeezed em he went off like Old Faithful. Guess no one had ever grabbed his nads before. We were dying, doctor and nurse were screaming for him to stop, he was freaking out cuz he couldn't. He's turning left, he's turning right no where to go. The doctor is trying to cover it. Like 10 or 12 of us just standing in our underwear watching it happen. Oh I'm peeing just remembering it. What a great memory.

I had that for my High School Football Physical. I was done by a local lady doctor in her 60s who had been doing the school sports exams for years. I mean years, she did the exam for your parents if they play sports at that school in their time. A couple of the guys, would make all their blood/brains go south just to see if they can freak her out. Didn't work.

Yeah I remember that. It was grade school (pre-5th) and was the early 70's. Ours was a male doctor (although the school nurse was female) and he would make you cough. I guess to see if your 'stuff' was working. LOL

Oh and I just remembered another similar thing like that. They'd line the whole school up in the gym or cafeteria and check you for cooties (lice).
Woe to the child who got sent home as that was fodder for endless teasing.
